Think it's more than 2 yrs away, more like 5 as you will not be top of list.
New lambo will probably be 18 months - 2 yrs if u order now
    Special a yr away
458 - loads of stock, no brainer unless you can do a better turnaround than the above.

I reflect on questions like this, in the following manner. How old are you because as you get older and presuming you have the money to make choices, time matters more than money. "Waiting" seems wasteful.

If you have enough money to buy "a car", what "feels" good now? IMO, the 458 is a a "state of the art" road going machine. Regardless of maeque, my rule of thumb has been to buy whatever makes you happy (now) and deal with whatever comes (later). Best

Buy a good used 458 coupe now, preferably a 12 with lots of warranty. Put yourself on the list for a Lambo if you want.

Best of both worlds -- drive now, spend a little money, and then get a new car when it comes out.

I spoke to Lamborgini of dallas. They have no more info on the Huracan than I do. No guarantee you can get one as the dealer allocation is limited. Need 15k deposit with no delivery date or MSRP or options. I ended up buying a 458 this week instead. Will trade for the the 458 successor or the Huracan when it is more available.

I agree with RBK...assess your age, time you have been driving, style of cars driven(3 wheel...4...or more) and the amount of money you are willing to invest in getting from A to B and whether or not it makes sense to move into a two-seater.

"Reckon-ing" is a good thing as most can attest to on this site that they have reckoned at one time or another about the Ferrari they own and how long they reckon they should keep it.

The cars are great...test drive one and you will understand why most are so passionate about the 458.

Being new to Ferrari he may not be able to get an allocation for a speciale unless he pays a huge premium. I would say get the 458, and get yourself on the list for the replacement or the lambo so you can replace in about 2 years if you want.

Time is one commodity you can't buy more of. Get the 458 you won't regret it. It took me 7 months to get my spider from when I put my name on the list, 6 months from when I got my allocation. In Ferrari world this is "fast". The 4 months after I traded in my Cali in August seemed to drag on forever. Why wait 2 years when you have 2 years to make memories with your first Ferrari?

If you are clever you can find well optioned ones for very good $. The replacement will probably be turbo or NA hybrid. It most likely won't be a fresh platform either but a modified 458 platform the same way the 430 was based off of the 360. 458 may very well be the last pure v8 NA car made.

That's what I heard about the 458 replacement, a revolution, like the 360 to 430, not a evolution, like the 430 to 458. But who really knows.
