They just repeated that they will update us in the morning, and that they are keeping him in an induced coma.

Not surprising at all to wait to 1000h GMT. Gives docs a chance to do rounds, see new CT scans, check blood results. That is perfectly fine.

What we want to hear is: 1) off or starting to come off the respirator. 2) intracranial pressure staying normal. If we hear this, we're ok.

    Horrible story. :(

    Pull through Schumy!

I have lost ALL interest in future ski trips. I'll stick to golf.

I find it quite concerning that all of these people are rushing to his bedside. It's like when the doctors tell you to contact family because it won't be long now.

Sleep has also not been a friend to me tonight. I need a drink.

    Also, he says:
A patient who could go off en route during heli evac would almost always be sedated and intubated prior.

Sounds like they may have induced coma at the first hospital. Hopefully anyway.

Keep in mind all of these people are very wealthy and can hop on a private jet to rush to his bedside even if he only had the flu and they wanted to bring him chicken soup. :)

When a good friend or relative has a significant injury you want to be there if you can and people like Jean Todt definitely can. I don't think it necessarily means they've been told it won't be long.

I'm betting he makes it through. And then Corrina burns his skis...

    Bas,

In so far as I have correctly understood the news we have, and with all precautions, no.
It has been reported here on the radio that he was awake and conscient just after the accident, chatting with people around him, but in an agitated state of mind. He then fell into coma during the travel in helicopter to the first hopital. The operation in the Grenoble hopital is said to have been practised by Professor Gérard Saillant, called especially for it.

Keep in mind that the next health bulletin is scheduled for "at about 11:00 (Paris time)" which could mean slightly earlier, but also slightly later.

Also be aware that my understanding (but admitely, it is my understanding only) is that usually the neuro-surgeons in France would not issue anything positive during the next 48h following the accident, so I would be surprised if anything firm and clear emerge from that bulletin.

    Rgds

I've just woken up. Forced myself to get a few hours sleep but it wasn't easy. Checking for news wasn't easy. Looks like there hasn't been any new news- that's a tiny positive as we all know the next official update is at 11am local. Our man is fighting! Go for it Schuey! We all know you only know one way - the winners way!

Jean Todt, Ross Brawn and his personal doc Johannes Peil are beside the family at hospital.

Next press- release is, as mentioned above, at 11am MEZ. Don't expect good news.
