Funny, I find the coupe much better looking!

I agree on the California though I love the 250 swb too.

I think the old removable roof targas are cool in their own right - kind of the same way big chrome bumpers interrupted the lines, but also added character and interest.

The ritual, the latches, the texture of the top -- I'd pay a premium for a GTS (246, 308 or 328) over the coupe.

I've heard the same from many, but I've always thought the cabin to be too exaggerated, or bloated, or conspicuous. Nothing like the subtle, flowing lines of the Dino, anyway. I have to admit that I've changed my mind about a few cars, so maybe I'll slowly see the light with the coupe. That was the case for me with the series II Maserati Sebring, for example. At first I thought it just looked like a messed up 3500 GT, but then it grew on me. I love how it recaptures some of the elements of 1950s Italian car design. Did I just call a mid 1960s car retro?

Fiat 124 spider, with a targa top. Best of all worlds.
I had one with the steel band that mimicked the Porsche top. As usual one regrets selling things.

These early 246's have all kinds of unique features like center lock wheels, hinged foot rest and different glove box door among many other interesting details. While the car runs and drives well, we are going to replace all of the rubber brake, fuel and coolant hoses for safety. This is a unique opportunity to acquire a very rare and special Ferrari Dino.

Their last one was priced $65 less and sold in a week+ so having this on the market a month+ is probably not much of a gauge of demand

Compared to a '73 Carrera RS, a Dino GT is soooo much more special!

Interesting...so if this car scored 92.0pts at 2012 Concorso Italiano and is going for $325k ask, what would a Concorso Italiano Platinum (95+pt) GT be valued at if it were on the market (i.e., same concours, same judges)?

Oh he values money, he just valued getting that car in that color right then more. (And it took at least one other bidder to value it almost as much too). And he still loves it!

Ouch. Both are great cars. I have both, well a GTS not a GT, and the RS is so much more of a performance car. Scary how good it is now, let alone what it was like in the period, and the Dino only compares in looks. The RS is magic.

But one is much more expensive.

If the early 911 were built only as an RS I would agree. You get all the RS magic and more in a correctly built sports purpose 911 for a lot less.

Well Freeman doesn't know or care much about Porsches .... :)

I tend to agree, and I'm also a HUGE Porsche fan. 911's are great and I've had all different era's of them, but they are much more common and not nearly as 'unique' as the Dino as Freeman suggests. I had a beautiful '71S in Signal Yellow. People never batted an eye at it compared to the Dino (I realize you own a car for yourself and not others but it gives you an idea). But they do perform really well ....

Which are you saying is more expensive?

911RS sell for about $500K, no?

RS's are quite a bit more expensive than Dino's. Basically double. And that's not the lightweights just the tourings.

Not sure what you mean? Earlier SWB's? A 67S is a fun car, love them, but very different feel than the 73RS.

Price is immaterial, why the fixation on price all the time. dearer isn't naturally better.

Look at the picture in post 143 and then jon's beautiful dino in post 144 (last pic) I rest my case your honour.

Regardless of my bias towards the dino I would still choose the dino everytime.

No disrespect to Porsche owners intended as I guess the RS is a far better and more reliable car, but not a head turner just a sought after rare classic car

I think the problem with the RS is that it is relatively easy to replicate, and the difference between a very good RS clone and the real thing will ultimately be the serial number. The same with GT350s. Having said that, I wouldn't mind having an RS and a GT350.

The problem I have with the rs is the same problem I have with the 356 speedster and the Ac cobra-it's not that they're not great cars-they are-but they're all so cloned, that they've begun to feel less special-when I see one, I just assume it's a copy...I buy cars I love, but they're also an extension of who I am in some way, and I suppose part of me doesn't want to feel like everyone else..:)

Yep cannot argue with that, but the last pic on post 143 just screams out class.

Perhaps it just me but I don't see any car that comes close to this even today. That's why the value of this car will continue to grow.

My prediction in 5yrs it will be double what you would pay today
