Ok it's cold out today so I didn't hit the garage but I have been searching for info on the headlights both of my headlights will not go up. The only thing I did was turn the knob on the driver side light it came up a little about a half inch. I can grab it and lift it up but it's like a dead limb it just falls back down. I figure it would be like my other cars with pop ups you spin it it goes up or down depending which way you turn it and the position it's in at that time. Unless there is something internal that would cause this I'm not sure what my problem could be. I searched the threads and have seen the fuse issue change to a 10 but that and possible linkage issues. Does anyone have photos of the inside of the headlight motors?? Anyway help is appreciated.

I don't know because I was able to lift the light up it wasn't binding but I'll have to dig a little deeper.
Seems from you're initial statement that both sides stopped working? Seems unlikely both linkages would fail at the same time (unless they were frozen by ice or something and you tried to open or close them and broke both linkages that way). If you can remove your front trunk liner, the actual headlight modules are easy to remove...only 4 bolts and a few plug disconnects. Maybe pull one out, check the hardware, and if all looks OK, run a ground wire to the car body and then get a wire that you confirm is 12 volt + and poke it in the electrical connector an see if you get action. I recall the ground wire for the unit is a separate wire. The connector for the headlights themselves is a rubbery plug with 3 pins, so ignore that one. BE CAREFUL! It's a strong motor. If you hook up the 12 volt and the motor runs you don't want to be holding it in a way that crushes your fingers between the moving pieces.
I bought this car back in April and just returned home from Afghanistan so I have been working on the car. Have yet to drive it so this condition is how it came to me. Never saw them work.
From your description in post #1, it sounds like the linkage arm isn't securely attached to the output shaft from the headlight motor. Fairly common problem. If that's the case, the motor will operate OK but it won't move the linkage, so it won't raise the headlight. For test purposes, have someone turn on the headlights while you're looking at the motor and the bucket. Keep your hands out of the way! If you can hear the motor turning, but the bucket remains stationary, then the linkage is the problem. Most likely, the nut that holds the linkage arm onto the output shaft from the motor is loose, so the motor turns but doesn't move the linkage. It's a bit difficult to reach down in there (as I recall), but all you have to do is tighten the nut that holds the linkage arm onto the output shaft from the motor. It's best to remove the appropriate fuses and relays from the panels before you reach down in there, just for safety. The nut should be TIGHT so the arm is securely attached to the output shaft from the motor. And it has to be "clocked' correctly, so the headlight door is in the down positon when you tighten the nut. The nut in question is #14 in the exploded diagram above.
Well I made it out to the garage tonight to one find the battery flat out dead. I just charged it two days ago. So the cold really affected it anyway plugged it to the charger again for a few hrs and it will not take a charge. So I can't test them tonight. But what I found in the fuse box was the LH headlight motor fuse was just not installed and the RH motor fuse had a blown 10 amp so it's safe to say this issue isn't new. I'll mess with it more later.
I found a picture I took of the headlight linkage on my old 348. This is the linkage between the headlight motor and the headlight "bucket". I would guess that either this linkage has come apart on your car (not likely on both sides at once), or the nut that holds this linkage onto the output shaft from the headlight motor (right below the double nut in the center of the picture) is loose, so the motor spins but the linkage doesn't move. If you had an electrical problem, you shouldn't be able to raise the bucket by hand. Image Unavailable, Please Login
What I did was turn the headlight knob a bunch then I lifted it up. When I turned the knob back down and then tried to lift it it was down In the stowed position and wouldn't lift up so I can't explain that right now haha. I have just been farting around with it.
Ok went out today after charging the battery overnight on my battery tender. Battery had enough juice to start the car. This headlight issue you are about to see happens with the engine on or off. I start fresh with the switch off and pulled the fuses to put it in a normal state. Turn on the switch put in the fuses and then try to operate the headlights like they should. With key on car running of not the RH light goes up, LH doesn't. She. I turn off the light switch that's what happens in the video even if I turn off the key. It won't stop unless I turn off the battery or pull the fuse. LH motor never moves even if I "help it" it's dead at the moment. Now enjoy this video it is funny. http://youtu.be/zvgelHLOOG4
Might won't to look here if you haven't already done so http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355/393013-355-headlamp-pod-going-strange.html#post142338520
