It's like he hasn't had a chance to win a championship since then.

    LOL :D.

Fair. But I was a firm believer that Alonso must've known before it happened. Fueling his car that low, on a track like that, then a ''lucky'' safety car (curtesy of his teammate) to win the race. Pretty damn sketchy. Drivers sit down with their engineer/strategist before the race and discuss various scenarios and then decide on what they feel is the best strategy. Not in a milion years would anyone say on a street track: Yes, I'm starting very far down the field, so lets fuel very light so I still can't overtake anyone, stop early to definitely join the back of the field, in the hope that someone will crash and cause a safety car before anyone else's pitstop window has opened.

Yes. Plausible. In Lalaland. Remember that this was when one could benefit significantly in a situation like this, as pitstops closed in case of a SC.

That being said, I don't blame Alonso for Massa losing the title. That was on Ferrari when they forgot how to do a pitstop and the engine failing 2 laps from the end with Massa massively in the lead in Hungary...

Alonso is s*it. Faster than anyone else, but still sh*t. Some think because he drives for Ferrari, he is wonderful. BS. Let's be honest, Enzo was extremely rectal, about the only close break Ferrari has experienced from being as*h*les was the Brawn/Todt/MS era. Before, and after, the Scuderia was important in their own minds.

Of course he knew about it, along with just about everyone else in F1, including that half wit rat Mosley, < who did nothing about it at the time.

Why Massa is bringing it up now is anybody's guess.

Puuuuul-ease. Schumacher intentionally spun his car in qualifying in Monaco to try to seal, or is that steal, his pole position from his rivals he knew were faster.

    What's the difference?

Would you say the same about Schumacher?

For starters Schumi parked the car. Alonso needed his teammate to crash at fairly high speed corner. Injuries still happen in F1, as glock demonstrated a year later (so should be an even safer car) where he cracked a vertebrae and injured his leg in an accident.

IMO MS saw that his lap wasn't going to be fast enough and simply parked it as a solution, as a spur of the moment thing. Alonso's stunt was premeditated hours before.

Telemetry, plus the fact he even practiced the crash move in the warm up laps IIRC.

What is the point of Massa's crying now over something that happened years ago? He was not Alonso's team mate so why should he care? Sounds like Massa is just angry for being booted from Ferrari and now feel's the need to keep himself in the press.

So there are actual words out there where they agree on this, or just useless technical info that can be interpreted any way someone want?

Ask Nelson Piquet Jr if you want the words, or ask yourself why Briatore did not contest it, when he was suspended from all Formula One events and FIA-sanctioned events indefinitely, and Symonds received a five-year ban.

#1 is evil, #2 is an angel playing along while under contract, #2 vents "a little" when out of the contract. seems like it always goes that way. fact is to win at the highest level of F1 you need a structure like this.

Sure, they had them together - Gilles and Pironi.

As for Alonso and Crashgate - Massa cares because he feels that was the primary incident that robbed him of the 2008 title.

Bob, the difference between Schumacher deliberately parking the Ferrari during Monaco qualifying and Crashgate is that the FIA Stewards assigned intent, fault, and blame to Schumacher immediately, he was punished on the spot, and has been roundly vilified over the years for that action. With Crashgate, Symonds and Flavio were punished, but Renault was let off the hook, AGAIN (in the same year that they were found guilty of much greater espionage against McLaren than McLaren committed against Ferrari, yet Renault got a slap on the wrist), and somehow Alonso escaped sanction completely.

Cozmic_Kid - they don't call him Teflonso for nothing, it's because nothing sticks to him. He was fully implicated in the McLaren spy scandal, he admitted he knew about the stolen Ferrari info and data and was knowingly and wholeheartedly working with the engineers using the Ferrari data, by his own testimony to the FIA. Of the handful of McLaren people who knew about the stolen Ferrari data, Alonso was right in there, yet he was unpunished for turning stool pigeon.

Re Crashgate - Alonso is certainly not stupid, he's very intelligent. Only a stupid driver would not question a planned pit stop on lap 11 - from his grid position, that was a ridiculous strategy that would be disastrous, unless a safety car came out immediately after that very premature pit stop. The only way Alonso would have gone along with that pit stop timing would be if he knew the corresponding safety car was being arranged. You want proof? It's circumstantial - and criminals get convicted on circumstantial evidence without admitting guilt all the time. To believe that Alonso, alone of the drivers, team managers, and engineers, did not know of the plan is frankly naieve beyond reason.

    True.
Its a Ferrari tradition to pit driver against driver. Compared to the old days this is very tame
