F Type coupe

I am interested in hearing about the f-type roadster or coupe. that said, I am a coupe type of guy and want more coupe

 

Saw a roadster near my house the other day - it sounded incredible.

 

Looks like the roadster in v8 "s" trim is avail at dealers in LA for $80k range.

Deprecation is our friend when looking at a car like this. Buy one w/ 1k miles discounted @ $20k. That seems a fair bet when considering the looks , performance and a full warranty!

 

I drove the 695hp convertible F jag. I thought the car looked stunning and drove just as well.

I had a chance to look at the f type coupe last night at the san diego auto show. the car was white w/ glass roof, black out package, performance package, steering wheel and interior options too. the car was roped off so they were mot keen to show the car to the masses. I was able to set up time w/ the salesman and get a private look but the battery was disconnected so I could not adjust the seat to see if I actually fit in the car as I am
6'-4". I was able to determine that I had head room but the leg room is still an unknown until march (when they will actually have cars in stock).

my immediate impressions.

looks: as nice and attractive a car being produced today. it is every bit as handsome as the Astons imho and is similarly scaled as the vantage v-8...smallish but very nicely proportioned. I really cannot fault the exterior design and the fit and finish seemed quite nice from the limited access I was given.

interior: cramped for me but that may change when I have a chance to tinker and find a suitable driving position. the materials seemed nice and the car appeared well built...not as swanky and as solid as the sls coupe (I am actively considering the sls coupe in the secondary market) but I am not sure there is a sports car being made that is as well made as the sls? the secondary market sls is also $50k more to own. the controls seemed nicely positioned and the glass roof option was quite nice from the inside and looked great as a design study.

issues: again I had a very limited look at this car but two things came up immediately as my little gripes. the hood closing process seemed a bit cheap and clanky. the options list was also disappointing as list was nearly as extensive as a Ferrari or a Porsche...which I hate. just build the car and sell it to me as shown and stop playing games w/ pricing! the a la carte options lists have all become absurd inmho.

overall the car is a real beauty and one that I must drive and see if it could work for me...I would be very let down if the car did not deliver on the road because it is a stunner and holds huge promise. additionally, I need to understand if the car is one to buy or better leased?

last comment...it was the only car at the show that had any lasting impression on me. made the 991 and others very forgettable. the f type coupe was the movie star to my eye.

 

That hood is a very large aluminum clamshell stamping, so I would guess one must take care not to exert torsional forces during closing that might bend it. With regards to the options, if it's at all like the roadster they pretty much come in packages; nowhere near as piecemeal as a Porsche nor as silly as Ferrari. Your last sentence sums up a good part of the appeal to these cars.

Not that Chicago weather is conducive to driving anything but a dogsled right now anyway...

 

A guy on the Jag forum claims he got a new V6 convertible for almost 15 grand off sticker in San Clemente. MSRP of $73,450 and got it for $59,950.

 

I saw that and have problems believing it. That pricing certainly not obtainable in Chicago, even with the snow we've been inundated with.

 

the dealer in Orlando has about 12-15 of them, almost all V6 convertibles.

I think deals are to be had.

 

I've seen a few of the convertibles on the road driven by ladies, definitely to trophy wife's car. I like the coupe much more but just can't justify the price.

 

both the convert and the coupe are very nice cars. I am very impressed thus far. seems so are the journalists. I am only considering the v-8.

 

My understanding is that the V8's are not selling well. You might want to check out the dealer in San Clemente and see if you can get a deal!

there is a dealer in la that has several v-8 s converts in stock. on cars dot com they seem well marked down. the cars are not fully optioned but it would seem they are discounted $15k ish...or more.

it seems like a tremendous performance value and make no mistake...a real head turner too!

I am focused on the coupe but they will not be avail to view or drive at the dealers until well into march as I was told. let's see what happens?

 

Wow that is awesome! I don't see the purpose of buying the V6 but obviously the 25 grand price increase is a lot for people to swallow.

I know that dealer in LA. Now that the Dec peak sales season is over, you might get yourself a great deal!

 

I just looked at cars.com in the LA area, the cheapest V8 I could see was $93,945, which is I think about the base price of a no option car including delivery.

 

Which dealer is it? I can cancel my current order and walk away if I can find one truly as cheap as you claim. Feel free to answer via pm. Thanks.
