This place has been a lifesaver to enjoying my car. I just want to pass along one thing I learned so that it may help someone else. I was having issues with intermittent speedometer readings. It seemed to work every time cold until after running a while then it would just drop dead.
    1) I changed the sensor.
    2) Cleaned the connections on the back of the gauge.
    Still had the same problem.
    3) Cleaned all wire connections at the battery terminal.
    Problem solved.

Thanks for posting! Prolly won't get many replies. But it's on here! Might help someone who uses the search. I love it. Why not help?

Now, pic of your 83? I have the same.

Mines exactly the same, same year car to, it reads then flops about then reads. I'm going to pull it soon and send it to speedy cables.

How do you know it's not the sensor/transducer?

Do you still have an extra sensor?

I changed it. But binned it. One of my indicator diodes also has packed up so I'm going to try and pull the speedo and send it off.
