Great restoration! Ref.. the financial aspect of this venture even "Napolis" can sometimes go wrong, see post #10. Dr. K.
Went a drove again today...electrical stuff fixed. Only thing left is to install radio (not original) and it won't be hooked up, just fits the space correctly. Picking up on Friday to bring home...too busy all week. I'll post some pix when at her new home after all these years!
Rob, glad to see you are almost there. What type of radio are you having installed? That is the one detail that I am not happy with on my car. I bought an Autovox radio from Eaby Italy. It is period correct but, it was such a tight fit that I could not hook it up. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Keith Martin just posted a photo of a twin of your car that he is judging today. PDG sent from Io, innermost moon of Jupiter
Unfortunately it isn't an original radio, just the one that was in it when I bought the car...likely a late 60s early 70s Cassette radio. Fits the spot in the dash. Will endeavor someday to try and get get more original stuff. I am just so tired of the car being away that I want her home. I will do the chrome around the windshield/rear window at a later date for this reason. Also, the windshield has some scratches from wiper blades years ago, probably without blades on....how best to handle that? Can the be buffed out by a professional window person you think? Thanks
Rob, I was able to remove the deep scratches in my windshield caused by the previous owner and the wipers. I am sure that a professional can do the same. I was not able to remove the pitting on my windshield caused by normal driving. From what I read, the pitting can not be removed...there are chemicals that can reduce their appearance. It is worthwhile to put up with a little hazing to keep the original windshield. I am happy with the results. Good luck. I do not blame you for wanting your car back. The radio is not a big deal. The car looks fine without the windshield trim installed. The problem that I had installing the trim was because the replacement windshield seal (from MIE) was thicker than the original. The studs on my windshield trim would not go through the rubber seal. Once I had my welder lengthen the studs, installing the trim was easy.
I know it...almost down to the day. What an ordeal....glad for the end to be here, and what a gorgeous piece of art the car is...but...never again...never again.
She is finally home. Just stood in the garage mesmerized for the last 1/2 hour. Next to her my 2012 Gran Turismo S... 53 years separate them. I decided to name her...Sophia....as in, Sophia Loren. Pix either tomorrow or this weekend for sure. 5 years.....almost in tears.
Glad to hear it! Knob in the mail! If you can snap some "high resolution" photos, that would be appreciated. ~Trev
I have been out and about driving her this weekend. Here are some pictures. She sits in the "Maserati garage" next to the Gran Turismo S, 53 years her junior. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Rob, your car looks fantastic. Congratulations. Your car looks like it was worth the wait. The original windshield with the vintage sticker adds character...good decision. My car had hideous smurf blue seatbelts installed, when we bought it. We rebuilt them with new black webbing...they turned out great. If you want contact info for the company that sells vintage seatbelts and parts, let me know.
I just installed the strap on my car that holds the main fresh air hose away from the header. I drove the car a couple times without the strap and the header started to scorch the fresh air hose. Your car has a hole where the screw for the strap mounts. I am hoping to save you a little grief...not sound critical.
That car has way more charisma than a lot of vintage Ferraris I see. Way to go. Seriously, what a fantastic contribution to the Italian car community to do such a long and loving restoration. Enjoy it! Cheers, Geo
Sometimes you stumble upon something that truly takes your breath away. This car is one of those things and is a credit to you. Absolutely stunning. Can I have it ?
