Great sentiments above. I thought Auburn might not have any gas left in the tank after their two miracle comebacks, but they played lights-out in the first half. The second half is usually a result of coaching adjustments, which I think affected the second half's pace of play & outcome. Malzahn did a very good job all year, but this is his first rodeo & Jimbo's experience probably made a difference. As John McKay once said, though, the key to victory is usually to have better players than your opponent. FSU's team speed was fun to watch; Auburn's tenacity was also a testament to their grit. If every bowl season had this much fun, I'd be a happy guy.
Possibly. And if Auburn had the same next four you could expect the same. SEC has some awesome teams and coaches. So do the other conferences. But watching FSU come from behind to win, shows a lot of talent, coaching skill, determination, and some luck. Just like Auburn beating Alabama. But the constant hate of some of the rivalries gets old. I am an FSU fan. I don't hate UF or Miami. I like to pick on them, and I'd rather other teams win, but in the end, I like switching the game. If FSU had stayed at 3 or 10 points, I'd accept that they didnt belong. But they didn't, they came back and won...
Actually they did or pretty close with maybe the SC exception so swap in Missouri, and they won 3 of 4 it is called a SEC schedule.
SEC teams don't get to play this many football powerhouses in one season @ Pittsburgh Nevada Bethune-Cookman Boston College #25 Maryland NC State Wake Forest Syracuse Idaho
Alabama's schedule (to look at the team that most predicted was the best in the SEC) this year included... VaTech Colorado State Ole Miss Georgia State Kentucky Arkansas Tennessee Mississippi State Chattanooga Plus a couple of losses to Auburn and Oklahoma... Not much different... Powerhouses? I think not. Stoops has it right. GO CANES!!! BT
Typical FSU clown college mistake on their own apparel at the FSU store... Buy a shirt as national champs with AU having scored 34 and FSU 31. LOL. Since been corrected...would've been great if they shipped shirts out with that score. Florida State's BCS National Championship Shirts Had Auburn Winning | Bleacher Report
IMVHO Auburn came out too conservative in the 2nd half. No points in 3Q. FSU kept pounding and never gave up...they won.
Malzahn does not know how to call offensive plays with a modest lead. If it's a tight game or we're losing he's fine. He got away with it versus UGA and Bama with a couple of miracle plays and Saban having a brain fart. Didn't get away with it the third time. I would've thought he learned his lesson in those games, but clearly he did not. Combine that with the fact that he can't see obvious things coming, e.g., punt fake and you lose the NCG. Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely happy he's our coach, but he better learn to adjust. I also hope Parkey had some sort of issue that was preventing him from kicking it through the end zone like he has all year. If Malzahn was directing that to occur its another teachable moment for him as a HC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I thought both BCS teams played fantastically last night! Auburn's defense was *fast* up until late in the 4th Qtr. The only 3 or 4 coaching mistakes all night were by Malzahn: close to the end of the 2nd Qtr, Malzahn chose to run out the clock instead of be aggressive in scoring with 1:31 and a couple of timeouts. The fake punt. Then take your pick of the roughing the punter or the poor kickoff kicks/coverage. On offense, Tres Mason looked great! FSU showed character coming back against that 1st half deficit. No coaching problems there.
Back to the Future... Louisville Cardinals interview Bobby Petrino - ESPN I'm sure the HR dept will be thrilled with his hiring policies.
The SEC hype machine continues, but my guess is that the national championships will be spread out over the next several years. I don't see the SEC winning the playoff next year. BT
If you think we're arrogant now just wait until the network actually starts broadcasting! SEC! SEC! SEC! Hotty Toddy!
More fuel to the fire that the SEC is on a downward trend.
