I just picked up a Shuttle CHEAP! Engine got vacuum-locked, but everything else is in good shape.

I doubt I'll be able to source a direct replacement engine for it, and a rebuild would be cost-prohibitive, but I think I should be able to do a swap with something else... Daniel at Ricambi found this one for me that I think should work just fine.

Don't you wish they made these things like an old Mercury capsule? I mean really, the whole "hands on" experience in a modern shuttle is so dull compared to the analogue feel of the older stuff. I wish NASA would build something for the real enthusiasts among us.

Supposedly SpaceX was going to give us something lighter, cheaper, and more "raw".... oh well.

Blame the government... it's all their stupid regulations that require all the nanny features like space suits, landing gear, breathable air... you name it.

Prices may be spiking now but wait till the new chinese one is unveiled. I've heard it's the goods. Prices for the old ones will go down another a notch or two.
Trying to time this market is so fickle.

I just got one cheap too. Seems to be in good shape (got a stellar rating on the PPI). I am stoked, and the kids are excited to get their first flight.

Can't wait to get it launched.

Here's a pic with my kids:

    Actually they do.

Every 10 minutes of running time. Ouch.

Yes that flywheel is the wrong model. But it can be re-machined to suit. I have done this conversion before and it comes out good for a lot less money than the genuine NASA part. Clutch wear may vary considerably though. Depending on pilot technique. Particularly on take off.

I was wrong. The wooden shuttle doesn't make this thread complete; a REPOST of the wooden shuttle makes this tread complete.

If you put more than 10 million miles on it in a year, the depreciation is really bad.
Depends how you are going to use it, weekend getaways or daily flier.

Owning a space shuttle and not flying it is like marrying a supermodel and not having sex with her!

I plan to use mine every day!
