With all due respect, are you paranoid? Do you have such a unique first name that will expose you? I just don't understand.....

No matter what you outline as a requirement, the user can input what they like for name, city ownership etc. Personally, I like to see the location and the garage information filled out as I like to see where the folks are from and what their cars look like.

We can either post only to areas open to subscribed members, or simply do not offer any sort of interaction at all with individuals who make comments who are not owners and subscribed but avail themselves to troll like behavior. I'm all for answering inquiries from soon to be and new owners alike.

I did add my vehicle information in my signature bar, but all my data is already loaded in my garage and on the 355 registry.

I'm determined to be completely anonymous when it comes to first name and car owned.

I prefer it when members add more detail to their profile as it feels more personable and friendly, but I don't believe this should be mandatory. :)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Steve I cannot ascertain what body style your car is so I do believe you are in violation of full disclosure.

    Oh no!

Right. Just changed it. Now you have no idea what my name is nor what car I own...

For the record I think it's fair enough for people to post basic info.
But really it doesn't talk long to work most people out.

I'd like to see that once an owner has been verified and if admitted to the "owners" thread, a "verified owner" tag appears after one's screen name. To me this would be more useful that what level subscription on has or the cute name for how many posts one has (there is already a post counter anyway). I don't think anyone really needs to provide names or location unless they want to and that is already provided for.

All posters should be welcome and I was on FChat well before I bought my 355 but I would like to know though if the person in the discussion really owns the car that they are complaining about.

I think this is a fantastic idea and much more useful than the type of subscription a poster has especially outside of the owners forum. I would petition rob to change this. Knowing that a poster is an owner credentializes them to anyone reading what they have to say. I would tie that to the Requirment of the owners forum of posting a pic of your car and your garage in the owners forum so that a reader will also know what. Ferrari you currently own and make that visible to everyone outside of the owners forum as well

Ferrari required me to send them a pic of my registration in order to authenticate my ownership in their database. This forum does something akin to that with three owner verification. Put that in the signature Rob as a credential !!

The berating of 355s by non owners of the car or some that claim that they have worked on them in the past and know this and that about them is all well and good but a non informed reader might take what they read from said poster as something short of gospel.

Another issue that strikes me. I am a dentist and I fix broken teeth for a living. Every patient that sits in my chair has a tooth problem. If you were to talk to me about dentistry I don't tell you that teeth suck because all I do is fix them all day long and this or that is wrong with the design of them. Just because I have fixed and fix 355s in the past or over a many number of years your sampling of cars is limited to what you know. That being cars that need repair. To come on here and generalize about the model beyond your experience with them is the same as me saying all teeth are defective.

I Like Trojans idea and this is a forum we all spend a lot of time on as it is a passion for us and making it a more non biased exchange of information would be welcome.

I sent this pm to Rob. If you agree, copy, edit as you see fit.

    Hi rob,

I am 355 owner and a silver subscribed member. I plan on being a long term member and will upgrade to Rossa on renewal

The issue of credentials has come up in the 355 forum as I am sure you are aware. As an owner and a subscriber I take issue with non owners of Ferraris and non owners of 355s posting without verifiable or disclosed credentials as to ownership of either Ferraris or 355s in particular

As I am also sure you. Know, your forum has become a worldwide disseminator or information, bad and good, regarding Ferraris. I. Only frequent the 355 forum but I have peeked at others. Our forum is ripe with dissenters and naysayers who post under aliases with no credentials and appear to have an agenda against the model. The same could be said about me being an owner but anyone listening to my posts knows my status as I am fully disclosed.

In my professional circles, disclosure and credentials are important and necessary. I am not advocating that level of verification but you already have a level of verification in place that if visible would at least allow the new user some idea of the background of the poster.

I propose that you edit the subscribed , verified owners signature to include that 1) they have been verified as an owner and 2) post a link to their garage in the owners forum so that reader can see what Ferrari they actually own.

This will most likely drive non subscribed members to subscribe at some level so that their signature has validity. And it will more importantly allow readers of this forum to know who they are reading and apply their level of acknowledgment accordingly,

I would hope that you take this matter unerring advisement and react accordingly.

    Thank you,

    Bob Ferraris

I agree with this. I hate having to determine subjectively who is real who is not on this site.

    Great idea.

I think most of my information is out there. I agree that it's easy to weed out the idiots by their posts.
Also I think the owners section is only for a few select people. I had many people vouch for me, have had two different Ferraris, one I still have. I have been mentioned in the spotters thread at least 50 times with both Ferraris. Still didn't get the secret handshake. So I'm not sure that's the best solution.

Mark, I followed through on the requirements for the owners forum and got it done without issue. The gatekeeper missed an email from one of my vouchers and I needed to ask the person who had sent it to do it again but after that it got done.

There isn't a ton of posting in there but the process of verifying ownership exists on this site through the owners forum vetting and having done that in your subscript as a tag makes sense to me.

As I said, I do prefer it when people provide this information but I don't think it should be mandatory. We aren't a government agency on a data collection mission and if people want a little bit of privacy/anonymity for chatting then I think that's fine. If anyone runs amok with the cloak of anonymity provided by a screen name then it can be (and has been) penetrated - just look at all the pretenders and fraudsters DrStranglove has exposed over the years. ;)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

You need to be subscribed to view the Owners Forum and your vouchers need to confirm your ownership via PM to tifosi12. :)

    All the best,
    Andrew.
