I like it. Each team gets one Blue Koopa shell and a box of Banana peels. Seriously anything that promotes closer racing is OK with me. DRS and Kers were supposed to be the end of the sport.
I won a club handicap race where you had to make a pit stop and either change driver or get out of the car and go and sign your name and get back in again. Was quite a challenge with gloves on and the safety belt. Actually some of the ideas are interesting, others are amusing Pete
I still don't think that a pass using DRS is an example of proper motor racing. One step too far IMO. Very Mario Kart like. Pete
Yesterday I had a go at Mario Kart myself and was soundly beaten by my daughter, but it was a hoot and requires skill and cunning, and definitely more interesting than last seasons F1 races, especially to my kids. While many may mock and see the humour in my suggestion; is it any different to having silly contraptions like DRS and tyres that artificially fall apart and having to run all compounds and not the ideal one, plus pit stops that simply ensures that the driver just waits instead of actually racing and passing on the track? Soon Bernie could introduce optional short cuts and other ridiculous things to maintain his TV audience numbers ... Pete
My F1 and Mario Kart fan son reminded me of this video which follows along the same lines: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-h4zTEwgCpQ
