After several years of calling my car "the red Ho " I have been told by wifey I really need to have a name for her that she can tell her friends and family without the imagery conjured by that moniker. I would like an Italian name that rolls easily off the tongue. I am leaning toward Sofia. Angelina a close second. Any ideas?

I like it but It conjures up the stereotypical cheek pinching overweight momma that spoils you with great food. Looking for a little more sexy. Question: is it Amore Mia or Mia Amore to say My Love?

My 308 is Cara short for Cara Mia: My beloved/darling also can be translated as "Expensive" :)
the 355 is Tesora: or treasure

Both have small plaques on their dashes with their name

It's the nickname of the actress (Anna Magnani) that won an oscar for Tennessee William's Rose Tattoo (a script he wrote specifically with her in mind). She took the starring role in Pasolini's Mamma Roma, where she played a Roman whore. One of my favourite movies. Chock full of old Fiats, Lancias and Vespas.

You get to keep the whore reference + esoteric Italian exotica + an intriguing american connection. And your wife need not know :) La Lupa means "the she-wolf", eg the wolf that gave birth to Romulus and Remus.

I have never named my cars. My wife though has taken to calling them by name, however.

The TR is the white b!tch and the 308 is the yellow slut. We should get them together with your red ho, invite the boys over and have a real party! :D

LOL, I'd never named a car in my life but one day after I got my 308 I joked that her name was Sofia, and occasionally still call her that

Sorry, but in correct italian language:

My love is "amore mio" or "mio amore" not "amore mia"

"cara mia" it's Ok, but it's better "mia cara"

"treasure" it's always "tesoro" ..."mio tesoro", "tesora" don't exist in italian language.

"mama mia" it's wrong, correct is "mamma mia"

    :) :)

Even in this case: "putana" it's wrong! "puttana" it's the correct (bad)name for prostitute.

    :)))

Christine... after she tossed open the passenger door on my wife three times. What was more difficult to explain was the bruising on my wife's left shoulder.

Finally the definitive answer to this question I have had. So either way "amore mio" or "mio amore" is acceptable? Is the "o" vs "a" a gender related issue?

My 328GTB answers to the name "Angelina" (= little angel), but if I ever buy another Ferrari I'll probably name her "Julietta". Feel free to use it.

Yes "amore" is male noun, not female, so we use "mio" and not "mia": my dog = il mio cane, my house = la mia casa, my love = il mio amore.

You can either say "mio amore" or "amore mio", it's quite the same: "Silvia is my love" = "Silvia è il mio amore", or "my love i desire you!" = "amore mio io ti desidero!"

About the second question in Spanish I suppose that name is "puta" :)
