I just installed 15mm spacers front and rear, I also installed wider tires in rear 295 35 18,I think it gives the car a much better stance, took it for a spin and it handles like a dream.

Can I just turn nuts on coilovers to do that?
Can anyone here tell me step by step instructions on how to lower with stock suspension and what tools I may need?. ..
I know I will change the camber a lil but il deal with that later.

You sure can. You need a fork wrenchie thingie. Start with your car on a level flat surface. Use help. Take measurements are four reliable places (your corners) between the chassis and the floor. Be conservative on your adjustments. Do 2 at a time - fronts or rears. Don't worry if the car still looks a bit high. Drive it around and then remeasure. It may settle into the desired height by then. Make sure you have someone outside the car look at it with you in it to make sure it isn't butt low once you are in it - Ernie, I'm talking to you!

PLEASE be aware of how high the car needs to be to get into your driveway or just around town over local speed bumps. Having a cool looking lowered car scrape the crap out of its suspension at a car show or the drive-through is really embarassing!

 

snap on makes spanner wrenches in the right size . ahs 301 and ahs 304 . it will help if you compress the springs slightly, the nuts will turn easier . i believe each complete turn reduces ride height by 1.2mm.

Haven't done it on this car before....but it's not a difficult procedure to perform. As others mentioned, compressing the springs helps a lot.

 

What are the challenge height specs.

The thread pitch on the shock is 1.5mm. But then there is the mechanical linkage geometry (aka motion ratio) that's 0.70 front and 0.85 rear.

The rear springs on a F355 don't have much preload, so cleaning up the threads (removing road grime and the factory undercoat that's frequently splashed on the shocks) is more important. Then also spray lubricant on the upper and lower rubber spring vibration isolators as they cause huge friction opposing lower spring mounts from turning.

Front springs do have much more pre load. But it's difficult to get a spring compressor in there.

Whatever you do one must use a proper spanner. We see tons of spring mounts hacked up by someone pounding on them with a hammer and punch, they're aluminum, pretty soft...

We have a supply of nice used ones if anyone needs them.

I tried turning the shock tower rings on my 99 355 using the proper wrenches and could not get them to turn while still on the car. There is a rubber flange the spring sits in that wouldn't allow the collar to budge. I would have damaged the suspension before that thing would have moved. The problem for me was the inability to compress the spring while on the car. There just wasn't enough room to get either of the spring compressors I tried in there. I finally removed the shocks and then I just went ahead and installed some H&R sport springs.

 

I did lubricated the area well , and at first it seemed tight but got better as I lowered the spring, fronts were specially tight but rear was a lot better, but im glad it worked out for you by removing them.

 

Looks very nice! If you are just street driving the car fine but if its going on the track I'm not sure if it will add more stress to axles and the tranny due to the wider foot print. Just keep that in mind.

 

If they would correctly fit a Challenge Stradale I would consider them...

 

Spacing the wheels out increases the lever arm length on the wheel bearings (increases bearing stress), no effect on other components.

Widening the track uniformly decreases lateral load transfer so this increases grip. Altering track width more on one axle vs the other alters handling balance. Ask a kart racer... altering track width is about the most powerful tuning tool a Kart guy has.

Where are you guys buying the spacers at? Do they require new lug nuts?

 

To clarify, we have a selection of used lower spring mounts and locking nuts (pn 155086 and 141860 respectively).
