I am located in the Buffalo NY area and I am starting to search out places to take the car in for a major service this year. I am looking for advice from others who have had a good experience with a shop to take it into. I would like to take the car somewhere in the northeast, and I don't mind traveling a bit. The car is a 1997 spider with 11K miles. It has already had 2 majors but the last one was in 2008. It only has about 2500 miles since the last major but its been 5 years. Suggestions welcome.

Ferrari of Long Island. First rate guys they did mine when I bought it. They have a vintage car price structure.

    Lol! Too funny Bob!

Hi Jerry, I live in Orchard Park. Is your car a red spider? I saw one this year in East Aurora.

Send me a PM and we can chat.

I know of a gentlemen who owns a shop across from the Buffalo airport that regularly services Ferrari's.....he might chime in, I sent him a link to this post. You might want to consider him also.

    Black Forest Motorsport

    Good luck!

"Regularly services Ferrari's" not putting the shop down but to the best of my knowledge, all of WNY has less than 20 Ferrari's, at best. I know many are taken to Ferrari of Ontario.

They might do awesome work but I'd prefer to send my car to a shop that works on Ferrari's daily such as Algar.

I intend to do all of my own service including the next major. If I change my mind, the car will be on a trailer to Algar for sure.

He posts on a "secret forum" of old Audi guys and has done many Ferrari's and posted about them including doing major service on 355's. It's always worth a call. It's just nuts and bolts IMO.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's not competent. I've lived here my whole life and have watched 355's since they came out and besides mine, I can only recall 5 others in 20 years.

If it was my money and my car, I'd prefer a shop that deals with 355's every month. That's just me.

I've used him before, (Black Forest), for another car and would prefer someone who has a little more expertise on Ferraris.
Dave, yes a red spider. I haven't seen yours yet but I know someone who spotted you last year. Were always in OP, my brother-in law lives on Taylor.

You should post a photo of your car. Do you have aftermarket wheels?

Bradan won't pickup from Buffalo, they are on the other side of the state near NYC. But they are a good shop - painting my calipers as we speak.

Ferrari of Ontario is the closest shop to us but I'm not a huge fan of the boarder crossing with my car.

Most shops are toward the east coast and 7ish hours away. Prior to my ownership, Algar serviced my car since 2000. I've established a relationship with Algar and that's the only place I would take my car if I was not doing the service myself.

Certainly other good places, but Algar has treated me very well for a customer that has never been at their shop. I hope to take a trip to Algar this spring.

Algar are a great bunch. I buy a fair amount of parts from them.

Dave I am terrible with the internet and photos but I will try to post a picture. It does have aftermarket wheels HRE I think. I have access to a car trailer so I don't mind hauling it somewhere, just looking for an honest place that will take care of it properly and not gouge me.

Yep, that's the one I saw in EA last summer and once in front of David's in OP.

Give Mike Bloch a call at Algar (service manager), tell him I sent you. Mike will treat you well.

Carm that is so cool. Dave really is on top of working on things to make keeping these cars running ideally possible.

How ideal is that to be able to run the engine outside of the car and adjust and repair accordingly?
