I know while I start this tread there is gonna b a lot of hate on the VETTE, but I have owned a few (zr1, Z06 etc) the cars have been problem free( or very little problems) , whereas on my 360, there weren't problems but the up keep has been expensive, I bought my 360 almost 2 years ago and I am already thinkin I gotta change the belts again. The new Z06 is going to b 650 HP, it is supposedly better than the ZR 1(2013)nobody can honestly diss the ZR1. What would u do. I am thinking selling 360 and buying Z06, now it is 8 speed auto plus targa top, Wow, how can u go wrong. I'm not lookin for an arguement or hear how I had Ferrari poster on my wall and not a corvette. I'm jus saying I wanted to update to a 430 but if I bought the Z06 which is considered a supercar, I would b the same or if not better than a 458 when it comes to performance and have full warranty. Like I said not lookin for an argument , u just can't diss the new VETTE , it's phenomenal

I think you should sell the 360 and purchase the Corvette.

I didn't like the C7 when it first appeared but the Z06 looks great. The extra width and spoilers make the car look so much better. You also can't beat the powertrain. Unlike the GTR you still have to drive this car. The interior is improved but still not up to european standards in my mind. The only other downside I can see is they will be on every street corner, common as dirt and depreciation will be high. Otherwise I say it's a hell of machine. I could see buying one on the used market a few years down the road.

yeah.. the C7Z06 is a pretty phenomenal car.
it's just that in the 360, the speed limit is reached so quickly it's hard fully enjoy its potential unless taken to track.
the C7Z06 is even more so.
    no wrong answer here.

I owned 2 360's and they were great cars for their time. The new Z will be amazing, truth is the Stingray optioned right is amazing. My Z06 will be white though a three pedal car.

Go for it. It will be a great car. Just know that it wont turn heads the way your 360 does because no matter what, Corvettes are ubiquitous. The stats I heard a few years ago where that they made around 44,000 Corvettes/year. While most will be "run of the mill" Corvettes, the ZO6/ZR1 cars look similar enough that the average Joe doesn't know the difference...kind of like Porsche 911s...they all look the same to the average person, not in the know. For certain, the ZO6 will outperform the 360 and be much faster in a straight line. With a manual gearbox, it will be lots of fun:)

Vette is a phenomenal car. It's all up to you. It's not what I would do personally, but if you're after crazy performance go for it. You already know there is absolutely nothing exclusive about it and its going to depreciate..

I sat in one the first day they arrived at my local Chevy dealer. I was impressed with most of the car. My only gripe with the interior was all the switches looked like they were pulled from the chevy cruz.

I think the new Z06 is a game changer. I know many Ferrari owners that for the first time are looking at the Z06 as a serious alternative to their next Ferrari (my self included). It looks to be such an incredible machine for such a reasonable price that it makes other exotics seem a bit silly. I love Ferarris but this new Z06 is one impressive piece of kit and it would be awesome not to worry about putting too many miles on a your car and killing resale. While it is not as exclusive, I also think it would not elicit as many negative reactions as exotics in this time of economic resentment.

Agree.....I'd yell at my kids if they mangled up a paragraph like that.

And this serves as a good reminder why I left late model Corvette ownership.

What a ridiculous thing to say....I'm sure you're missed dearly by the group.

I also agree that the OP should go with a Vette. It sounds like many of the things that make a Ferrari special over the Vette are of low value to him. IMO...the fact that the Vette has a warranty and is a higher performer, means nothing. Personally, I've never been a fan of any Chevy interior materials or build quality...things that have a high value to me. Good luck with your decision.

The C7 Z06 will definitely be a great "bang for the buck" sports car, but..... supercar it is not. And to compare it to a 458 is downright...... umm, how do I say it..... wrong? lol

But for sake of argument of the two cars mentioned, it seems like it would be a great fit for you nonetheless.

What you will get with the C7 Z06 over the 360 is a fairly maintenance free car, a quicker and possibly better handling car,and one that has a larger network of dealers to get serviced. What you won't get is the mystique of Ferrari ownership. I am a current Corvette owner and have owned different generations since 1985. They are affordable and easy to keep.

I have always lusted after a Ferrari but they were always just out of reach. I served 22 years in the USAF as an enlisted guy so you know we did not get paid the best wages. Now as a USAF contractor, I am in a position to fulfill the dream of Ferrari ownership and am in the market for an F430 once my 2013 Corvette 427 convertible is sold.

I may at some point sell my supercharged 2006 Corvette and upgrade to the C7 Z06 but not until it's been out for a few years. The Corvette group has a bad habit of making substantial upgrades throughout a generation's run.

The C7 Z06 will undoubtedly be a kick ass car but it will never be a Ferrari. My$.02.

I think, get the car you want. Here's a question. If you're diving your 360 and pull up to a stop light, and the 2015 Vette pulls up next to you, would you rather be in your car or the Vette? I had a 2004 Z06 up until recently and purchased an 04 360. For me, I'd rather have the 360. You have to decide for yourself which one you desire more. These cars are not about need, they are totally a want.

Thank u for the response, my car has been in storage since October and now we r suppose to get a full week of sun so I insured it last night and drove it this morn and wow, I think I'll keep the 360, I think it was more of reading the specs of the VETTE made me want to get another but I when I drove it this morn and saw the Ferrari symbol on my steering wheel , it all came back :)

The Z06 is worth checking out. I drove a C6 Z06 for five years and I liked it, but as fast as it was, the handling refinement didn't match my current 2005 F430. The Ferrari just feels better. From reading reviews of the standard C7 Corvette, it sounds like Chevrolet has really upped the refinement which should make the car more rewarding to drive.

There are aspects of the C7 styling that I don't care for (too many black plastic accents), but I agree the Z06 version looks better.

When the Z06 arrives at dealers, don't be surprised to find price mark-ups, at least until the newness wears off.

Good luck in your search and let us know what you do.

GM did a Great job with the new Z06(Z07). It set the new record at the GM proving grounds track. It will easily outrun the 360/430 and possibly the 458.

There's a new C7 at C+C. The first time it arrived everyone was all over it. Now, it sits like any other car there. There's a few guys who show up in C5, C6 and now the C7 vette.

I'm just not that guy personally.

It all depends on what you want to use it for...If speed is your #1 priority, then it's a very easy decision. Get the Vette. If you like the sound of a high screaming 8500rpm v8 and exclusivity/mystique then keep the Ferrari.

Fyi, that new ZO6 will EASILY be going for $100k. A nicely optioned C7 Stingray is $70k. Forget about the $52k base price, that's BS. Option one out then see. SO, the Z06 will be $25k more...For that kind of money ($90-$100k) you can barely get a high mileage F430, but you can comfortably get a 2012 ZR-1 which won't depreciate the way a Z06 vette will and have similar performance. Either way, not a bad choice...Btw, if performance is the only thing you're after, then you can probably get a used GTR and put $5-$10k into it and smoke all of those cars or a Supersnake Mustang. So, once again it all goes back to "what do you want the car for?"

I've owned Porsches, Vette's, BMW M5 and now a 360...and they are all unique in their own way...Get the one that fires you up, stirs the soul and makes you feel like a kid again!!! Good luck!

The new C7 and C7Z06 look great from the front and side. The back of the C7 does not look good. The Z06 is better. The performance is superb in its class. The value is amazing IMO.

Where it really misses is the interior. Look at it like this; If Ferrari, Maser, Porsche, Aston, released a 2 seat sports car with that interior, they would be embarrassed. We all know Corvette is on a tight budget, but I am not complaining about the materials specifically, but more-so the high schooler who designed the layout. Its a swing and miss, yet again. Like the exterior, if you can't design something that looks good, why not just "copy" (in a complimentary way) another marques interior.

I'm also considering the new Z-06. I currently have a F430 that has been a great car so far. However, I always wonder if something is going to break and cost me big bucks in repairs in the future.

I'll wait at least two years before buying the "Z". You can't beat the reliability and warranty that the Vette has to offer. And also considering the performance that the Vette delivers... Being retired, I no longer make the money that the Ferrari can possibility cost me if something fails.

Good luck on your decision. Like you, I keep thinking I'll pruchase the Vette, but, every time I drive the 430, I start back tracking on my future decision.

I think the new Z06 sounds awesome. Personally, I can get past the styling -- too many fiddly bits on it for my taste. However, if the looks of the car do it for you, I say go for it. I'm sure it'd be pretty amazing to drive.
