I think that we're talking past each other. I'm referring to the F1 car. Built by and badged as a Macca but liveried as a Honda.

The two companies to have, at best, minimal overlap in their products.

Oh yeah - I did think you were referring to road cars specifically.

I get what you are saying now - we will have to wait to see what happens tomorrow and again on Thursday. That should answer most of the questions for 2014 at least.

McLaren does have a strong partnership with GlaxoSmithKline and speculation remains that one of their brands could be in line. Perhaps 'Tums' antacid to help cure the heartburn they have been experiencing? :D

There is also rampant speculation for Sony to fill the void, although McLaren's close ties between the P1 road car and Forza 5/X-Box One/Microsoft leaves that questionable in my mind as well.

Dear goodness I hope not. I think that was my least favorite livery in the entire time I have been watching F1.

    "Buzzin' Hornets" my favorite btw.

Reading through that link, it mentions that Ron's plans to make changes within the team were well received, which is all well and good, except for the fact that the biggest problem for the team last year was that the car was a complete dog!

It wasn't really that the team didn't do the best job they could, they simply didn't have a car capable of delivering what they needed and they couldn't figure out how to fix it!

No amount of team reorganisation would have sorted that bag o' $hite out! - There was something (or several things), fundamentally wrong with the design!

My reading of Ron making changes to things within the team is that it is being done purely because McLaren no longer do things exactly how he thinks they should be done! - It won't matter if the way they do things gets the exact same results as Ron's way, it has to be done Ron's way!

It will have irked him incredibly to see the team do things a different way to his over the past few years and now he needs to have it all back as he likes it! (It's all part of the condition that I suspect he suffers from! ;) ).

I expect McLaren to revert back to being far less open, and being far more secretive and insular about how they go about racing in future!

It'll be interesting to see if he can still say "Ferrari" , or will they once again be known as: "The red cars"?

Well, the car is designed by the team, so if the car is bad, then there´s a problem with the team.

I sometimes laugh when someone says that don´t like motorsport because only the machine, not the man, has relevance. As if the machine was not created by men!

I'm not sure what the fuss is here. Isn't the official NASCAR logo tagline "If you ain't cheating, you ain't tryin' "

Regarding who runs the company, McLaren is a private business, Ron Dennis is a huge shareholder with authority in the company. They had a crappy year, so he's making changes. Good for him.

I suspect you're underestimating the degree to which Ron will make changes within the team! ;)

Good for him sure. RD coming back is in no way an assurance of success for Mclaren at all. I sense big EGO more than real progress if they dont produce a car that wins this year. That car was well under construction before RD made his deal with the board to take over ....again. Time will tell.

And they've got to start all over again with Honda next year!

It's not beyond the realms that they could have two years of struggle instead of other teams one year!

Not really- they need a new Principal, new drivers, new designer, new factory management. Did I leave anything out?

Honda, despite not being in F1 officially is the design behind the current generation of Ferrari engines. They are very good and I'm sure their first Macca engine will be a winner right out of the box

?. Are we saying that a person involved in Ferraris F1 engine program is ex-Honda?

Or are we saying that Ferrari are cheating and stolen Honda designs?

Mclaren have a problem to sort through still, Ron coming back is great and all and even if Brawn signs we need to remember that Ron/Brawn are the 'old guard'. This pair are potentially lethal but they are not Horner's age, or Toto's age. Ron coming back I am sure is with the intentions of getting the team back on track, and then stepping away again. I do not see this being long-term for either of them.

I guess Ron's coming back to McLaren kills any hope of Alonso going back there, if the rumors were true, which I hope they're not, since I want to see Alonso win the drivers championship at Ferrari.
