My son's first car ride

Nice! My first car ride for me was in a Iroc Z!

 

Starting him out the right way; good for you. All he needs now is a little $600 Ferrari outfit to go along with Dad's car.

 

I wanted to do the same but decided against it since I could not find a way to switch off the passenger airbag off.

Has anyone installed a switch to turn the passenger airbag off ?

 

Thats great! I would have done the same thing if I had a Ferrari when my son was born. I didn't watch the whole thing but it was great to see him "lulled" to sleep by the sound of the Ferrari. Did you see his sneer when the Harleys passed! Priceless. Great video memory you captured there.

Not to take away from your great video...
Going for a ride in my F-car was the first time my, then 8 YO, son sat in the front seat of any car. He discovered that he could tilt the seat back and got comfortable and...fell asleep on the freeway to the drone of the car! I was shaking my head because I was so excited to be driving my new car and there he was missing it!

May depend on the car, but on the 430 there is a switch in the passenger-side door jam near the hinges.

 

Excellent! My girls were at least 18 months old before they went in my Ferrari for the first time - and I didn't film their first rides.

 

Our girl was born on a Friday this past March. The following Monday we were scheduled to leave the hospital around noon. I had it all set up for her ride home to be in my buddy's '69 365 GT 2+2.

Then the pediatrician wanted to keep her a few more hours to get her weight up just a bit more. By then, the schedule was thrown off and rain rolled in that afternoon. She went home in a Jeep Commander. At least we tried...

 

My r8 has an airbag switch and ISOFIX (latch?) so he goes with me whenever I take it. His first ride in it was about 4 weeks old.

My other cars don't have a switch so he's out of luck for a few years. Although I hear a rumor that the 458 in US spec has a smart sensor with the correct seat. I need to see if EU cars have that too. If so I can get him in there.

Rob your video is now one of my personal "all time favorites"! I love how you seamlessly shift those gated gears, yet get some, without disturbing YOUR new boss yet attended to his need's (blocking the sun etc etc while shifting 'left-handed'). I will have to call my father and ask him or ask my mom what vehicle I first rode in but it was not a Ferrari. The post war dream is still in effect.

I don't think that my dad owned a car when I was born, since he walked to work in the Bronx, NY. (I think a friend or relative drove us home from the hospital.) My first ride would have been later in the '50s in a Ford station wagon, because that's all that my dad owned in those days.

My first Ferrari ride didn't come until 2004, in the Testarossa of the guy whose 328 I was about to purchase. So my first Ferrari ride and my first Ferrari drive came about an hour apart!
