If no one comes up with anything, and you're handy with tools, PM me and I can give you a quick rundown on how I made mine. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I still make an occasional LeMans Grill as I have time. You can do a thread search to see what they look like.
Love that conversion...the stock look on the rear of the 348 is not great IMO and doesn't hold up to the amazing side and front view of the car.
Favorite Mod I made to my old car. Husker makes a quality part, great customer service, and detailed instructions. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
...but I think those wheels might be even more so! Are those TR rims? That's one sharp car! Sheez I miss my 348!
Me and my dad felt the same a number of years ago. We set about designing something in his garage that would make the 348 appear more like a traditional Ferrari. You can't imagine the hours and expense that goes into getting to something that looks correct, and that can be duplicated, but it was great fun with my dad and I will treasure that time with him forever.
Husker - LeMans Kit Many thanks to Husker for the kit offer, and i have read the instructions which were clear and well written. Question.... So clearly the sheet metal work of the 348 needs cut no matter what ? And that would be true for the F355 Challenge grill as well ?
All you are trimming is the taillight bracket frame (tin), as the slots are rectangular and the openings are not tall enough to accommodate the round tail lights. (Round peg in square hole delimma!) The taillight bracket is not a structural part of the car's body. Same would be true for a 355 challenge grill mod, UNLESS you set it up so that the tail lights are set out further over the bumper by about 2.3 inches. That's not visually acceptable IMO.
This is the kit to have if you want to modernize the look of the 348. If I did not have a SS, this is what I would do. All Ferarri's have round tail lights - except that Bertone 308GT4 because they didn't get the memo.
I actually bought some 355 lights as I was going to do this mod but decided it just didnt quite look right so abandoned the idea. I do however like this one that appears to use mondial (I think) lights. Has anyone done it? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hope you like it, we used a 355 Challenge Grill and 355 OEM lights. I had a High End body shop do the work, there was no cutting what so ever anywhere and the light's sit perfectly not too far out or in and at the right angle. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Albert, could you post some photos of the inside of the engine bay - as the tail lights relate to the rectangular taillight mounting bracket? Something has to give somewhere, as those lights do not fit into the rectangular bracket - they are 1 inch too tall.
Since your taillight housing bracket wasn't modified, it must be that the lenses were in order to fit?
+1 Thats what made me give up - I didnt want to damage the framework of the car but the kight fiting was just too big for the gaps -hope these pics whilst I was experimenting help.
