No, the BALOON adds weight, it's contained air is equal to that is has displaced.

To imply the weight of the birds would be subtracted while flying within an aircraft implies they are truly weightless.

    I cannot believe this conversation.

I just feel sorry for the poor birds. If that helium balloon was large enough, the poor birds would have very little room to fly, and would certainly be suffocated when it pops.

If you put the airplane on scales, the weight of the air in the cabin would be included in the weight measured by the scales. However, because of the air displaced by the airplane, there would also be an upward buoyant force equal to the weight of the air displaced. This would reduce the weight measured by the scales. Because the volume of the whole airplane is greater than the volume inside the cabin, if the pressures were the same inside and out the buoyant force would be greater than the weight of the air in the cabin. At altitude, the density outside the airplane is less than that in the pressurized cabin, and at some point the buoyant force would be less than the weight of the air in the cabin. None of this alters the force exerted on the inside cabin walls by the air in the cabin, however. On the ground or in the air, it doesn't matter if the birds are flying or perching.

...thanks for taking over... was running out of material... you're poop'n better than a crippled skunk :=)

if the birds have buoyancy to use, why do they need wings to fly off the deck...
