Maybe they are blue collar, but what I saw in the ad was people that worked to become the best in their trade/craft. I saw them trying to portray mastery ran than the common man being able to afford a Maserati

I thought it was for Harley Davidson when I saw the flash to the motorcycle cylinder head. Like most others, it was not clear to me what product they were trying to pitch at the beginning. I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw the grill and trident! Well done Maserati N.A. Now do the same for Alfa Romeo when they show up....

Ahhh, but just wait 2 years. If these depreciate like all other Italian cars, you should be able to pick a nice one up in the $30k range.

I thought it was a great ad, I saw it on the internet before the actual ad spot in game but I found it intriguing and well thought out.

It's definitely nice to see them on the 'big' screen though, well done Maserati!

I think that may be overly pessimistic or optimistic depending upon how you look at it. In 4 or 5 years yes. I think an awful lot of these will come in in the mid $70K. Who really wants an underpowered, by comparison, Maserati?

Rolled up on a Ghibli on Saturday while driving my '07 Quattroporte. We were side by side at a light. I was rather astonished at the proportions - it was basically at least as big as my QP.

I thought the SuperBowl Ad was spot-on. The narrative and imagery all made perfect sense if you put their 100 year history and roots in perspective.

Even here in Europe where no one has any idea what a "super bowl" might be (salad?

.just teasing American football is totally unknown here, it is like trying to explain to people in the US what F1 or rallying was 20 years ago:)) some websites are mentioning the ad:

Super Bowl 2014 : Maserati Ghibli, sa nuit américaine - Turbo.fr

Nice to see Maserati being so bold in marketing terms but yes the proportion of time given the car is far too short...unless they are planning a follow up campaign.

    Best regards,

    Marc

I saw one of these for the first time at boardwalk fcar in Dallas last week-this is a lot more car than what I've seen in pics. They do hVe some lofty sales goals for this new ghibli but that price point is pretty damn attractive. Real expensive add but fiat is def doing more than pushing product with this one-I like it a lot

Disappointed with the ad. A mere 15second spot for a 1:30 commercial??? Mind you Canada didn't get to see the ad on TV, I'm viewing it for the first time.

That's quite possible. It's one of the reasons I didn't buy one. Actually, it was my girlfriend's car and she was afraid of depreciation, reliability, and lack of getting easy service like the Lexus she wanted.

The Ghibli is a man's 4 door. I think that's why they used the super bowl ad to have it's coming out party.

Well, it's not the first time the Ghibli name has been used by Maserati. And, the original WAS a GT, as the current one is.

I do agree though that perhaps a better name would have been better. But, Maserati has some wonderful names left like Bora (one of my favorite all time names) and Mistral (wonderful name).

I think I saw a lease for $899 for 36 months which wasn't too bad. That's pretty close with other cars costing about 70 grand.

Great video, but I wished it had shown the car more and longer. BTW: I think it was a Guzzi head, not HD :)

Ah okay. I was misinformed at the LA Auto Show. When I asked about price I was told ~$90k.

Well optioned, they can hit $90k. Saw an example at FOW a few months back with a sticker of $91k that was destined for crash testing. Was top secret at the time. Why you well option a crash test vehicle, I don't know. I may have a need for one for a VP as a company car, and my dealer and I have been talking since before it showed. My understanding is this car is more aimed at 5 series, Lexus, E class than larger sedans and is priced starting at $65k. The big deal as mentioned is the lease option which is far more aggressive than typical Maser.

As others have said I had no idea what the commercial was for, it could have been a Steve Jobs Apple commercial. Once I saw the grill and Trident I got goosebumps on the arms. Brilliant commercial IMO, CNBC did several spots on it today in fact, definitely created a BUZZ and what more could they ask for. I think Marchione hit it out of the park with this as did the Cherokee commercial with Dylan...especially loved the theme of that one too.

    Goosebumps here too...
Don't like that they used the Ghibli name either..
They could have called it Quattroporte Lite, Quattroporte Sport maybe?
Its like if Ferrari calling there new 4 door model a Daytona..Never would happen...
Maserati is always treated a little 2nd class it seems by the powers to be..

Definitely looking forward to Dylan building my next car. Too bad it can't be one of these ghiblis--although isn't maser planning on building an SUV built on the jeep grand Cher chassis? If Dylan is building that one I'm in

Disagree. In size and pricing, as well as the availability of a V6 engine, I think it's a 5-series, A6/S6, and E-Class competitor. I also think they're about 10K too high. Beautiful interior; IMHO the exterior is somewhat non-descript. Massive trunk space.

When compared to a 5-series, A6, or E-class, they are priced $10K+ higher.

However, when compared to the "4-door coupes," the 6-series Gran Coupe, A7, or CLS-Class, they are very close in price. I think it's this segment that they're targeting.

I finally got a chance to check them out in person at my local FM dealer and the car looks much better in person than in photos IMO. The interior is much less tech-oriented than the German competition, but instead favors a clean, simple design, which I find refreshing. I was also a fan of the abundance of leather inside the car.

I think Maser has a hit on their hands here. If the cars prove reliable and not astronomically expensive to service (two big questions with potential buyers), they'll have no problem hitting their sales estimates.
