What worries me is at night... I see these travesties during the day. I'm scared of what I'm not seeing when it's dark out. On a related note, I was going down the west side highway last week and there was a giant chain that looked like it should be mooring a ship in the river lumped in a pile in the middle lane. As if the potholes weren't bad enough. Well one of those disabled/senior shuttle buses hit it dead on with the left wheels. The guy never even lifted! The left side of the bus must have bounced 6" in the air... I have no idea how he didn't blow both tires.
Also beware when it rains. Water fills the potholes. Then they are invisible. I took two tires out on my 'Benz driver side last year because I went into a water filled "crater" on Queens Blvd.
OK. Now I fell like I'm dodging a minefield when I'm driving. Holy cow are these roads in bad shape!!
Every single road in new York state is f-ing horrible. The 90 all across the state needs to be redone. The two earlier thaws then deep freezes have wreaked havoc on the roads. Kevin Western New York
Just bent and cracked the left front wheel on my 330Ci on the Cross Bronx last night. The road is beyond crap to begin with, but now it is like a mine field.
made it home from Edison NJ - 30 mile drive. Yes, I was the idiot driving a black 430 spider 40 miles per hour on the turnpike! But didn't hit any pot holes and no road rash hit my windows. So overall, safe commute but would never do it again.
