991 GT3 as a DD?

I have the reverse problem. My commute is 1/2 mile and I wish it were longer so I can take out one of the Ferraris or the GT3.

I have been using my 2012 991C2S as my DD since June 2012 and now have over 30k miles. It is a 7 speed manual which I love in DD traffic, as well as a couple of track events I have done, one at AMP which I love. I just want something different and the new 991GT3 looks like a nice new car. My only concern is if I would find the PDK boring as a DD.

 

Depends on what you do with it.
I do 80 km per day on a GT3 RS if the weather is suitable. (My tyres are semis and there is no way I can drive this beast on rain)
House to work and back on poor quality surface secondary roads.
I am 60+ and it is an adrenaline kick for me. I sometimes arrive at home and feel hungry for sex after such a ride.
All my worries fade away behind the steering wheel.

But, if it was my only car, I would be very frustraded to drive it at traffic or downtown.
The few times I had to use it for shopping or downtown visits, brought pain to my chest.
The seatbelts are great for track but a torture on traffic.
The seats and suspension transfer every bump directly to your waist and if you step over a dime, you can feel if it was facing the tyre with the head or tail.
Fuel consumption doesnt matter to me, but it surely is thirsty but compared to a daily beater 911/996 its no big deal.
Still, running cost is high, as my tyres evaporate just by iddling and to be honest, sometimes I compare the expenses of this "whim" to a normal daily car and everytime I feel like an idiot.
But then again.... Life is short and we eventually all die, so.... wtf.

Do it only if you really, really "drive" to work.
If not, just get a BMW M6 series and call it a day.

the newer gt3s are much more streetable. Adjustable suspensions, sun roof, basically everything a normal porsche has except for the rear seats. I'd say the 911 turbo would suit the DD requirements better but I'm a sucker for NA engines. 991s rev up to 9k!!! However i heard unlike the earlier models, the new 991s do not share the same crankshaft as the porsche gt3 racecars. I wouldnt wanna be stuck with a 991 gt3 or any gt3 if i didnt have a warranty. Those engines are very good, but a blown engine could set you back 30-40k.

Oh my.
More weight and in the worst possible place.
Besides, you pay money for a lightweight car, and then you pay more money to make it heavier.
Getting very old for this new era. O tempora, o mores.
