driver quality cars are out there. you did not mention if you spoke to eddie karam.

he has been ahead of the boxer curve forever. what is your budget? you do know that these cars are not getting any cheaper in the near term in fact price escalation is moving rapidly!!

you may have to re-calibrate your pricing expectations regularly or you will continue to get priced out.

I feel like I tried to contact him but was unsuccessful. Is he with a dealership? I may be confusing him with another contact I received. As far as pricing goes, I understand I need to adjust upward. The question is not how far the market will go but how high I will go. The problem is not for lack of willingness to pull the trigger. It's definitely a shortage of inventory of acceptable cars.

I gave you Eddie's number. He has one boxer going to Amelia Island Auction and it is better than driver quality.

Thanks. If he's an independent I have not spoken with him. I do have your PM and will give him a shout.

eddie is the reason I have a boxer today. he knows the cars very, very well. he will steer you straight and will also have a very solid database for both carb and injection cars.

    good luck!

btw, eddie has bought cars from me sight unseen and I have bought a car from him sight unseen...never a problem w/ eddie!!!

Boxer pricing has just been going nuts lately. When I put my car on the market in December at $179, we were hardly the cheapest one out there-- really in the middle. Now, I'd probably price it at $225.

don, even at $225k you may have left money on the table? your car was a very nice example and well owned. the market seems quite dynamic...it does seem a bit like 89-90 again.

    Maybe, but for two things:

    1) The RPM BB was on the market when mine was, and was cheaper-- I guess it finally sold, but not until recently. I'd say mine was a little nicer, but not an order of magnitude nicer.

    2) We had only ONE (1) inquiry. True, he made an offer quickly and bought the car, but no other calls or inquiries. That tells me it's a fairly thin market.

1979, 40k kms, all red (no Boxer trim), very well documented and serviced, I owned it for the last nine years. Some would say it needed a major service (3.5 years since the last one), and tires (due to age, not wear).

Cosmetically good, although clearly a driver.

Thanks for the info. I have an '84 bbi red with no boxer trim. About 17k miles all original paint and interior in excellent original condition. Recent service and all records. I would love to know recent sales info of any particulars on 512s in that condition. Mine is not for sale, but I am curious.

sounds like a very nice car and the very last of the breed...a breed NEVER to be seen again.

I suspect the number you would think it would trade at would be less than a boxer expert would get in a transaction in todays market!

So what is it worth? more than you think:)

my 83 is not for sale either...even after my 11 years of ownership.

Thanks. Pete. Yes a very high serial number as well. My understanding is that only the 83 and 84 were available without the black boxer trim - is that correct ?

That may have been true in general, but they certainly made earlier cars without it also.

My guess is a really good BBI orig paint, properly maintanied, good compression, suspemsion and brakes workig nas they should(which is small percetage of boxers) is going to be 175K-200k if you can find one. A normal BBI(co,eticaly great) might be above 150K by now but its going to need 30K to run as it should even if it runs Ok.

We have seen 365 BBs that dont run and need what is politely called recomissioning(figure 75-100k) sell for $400k last week. So a 512 BB must be somewhere between 200 and 250K.

a slightl;y ropey BBI that needs paint or suspension and an EO maybe clutch etc, is probably a 125-150k car even though it may look nice and run. In the end are you going to put 50K into your nice boxer or buy one where someone has kept it properly and spent the $$ for you.

Hey, new member here, used to have 6speed f430, but would just read and never posted. Unfortunately I'm currently Ferrari-less and would love to have either a 512BB or BBi, but prefer the BB. I'd appreciate any help I can get.
