Anybody have or know of a new, or nice used front-right Boxer caliper (PN# 108071) for sale? Thank you!
Good day, You can try AW Auto Parts in the Eastern US... (Ferarri Parts | Ferrari Spare Parts | Ferrari Spares) I say this, as they have rear rebuilt calipers for sale on Ebay: Ferrari 365 512 Boxer New Loaded RT Rear Caliper Ate | eBay This one is new at $750 (with exchange), but they did offer rebuilt ones too. Cheers, Sam
Thank you Sam. I gave them a call. As it turns out, rear's are more available (notice I didn't say "Common"). Front's are indeed rare. How we love them so!
Hi 2 dinos, I had the same problem last year. I could not find a right caliper for my 512 BB. Not in Europe and not in US. If it will help you, the 400 and 400i had the same caliper as 512 BB/i. What`s the problem on yours? In Germany, at ATE-Breaks, they can restore it. Fritz from Germany.
Thank you! Is the 400i width the same? I was told that the 400i does not have spacers? Also, do the castings look identical? I'm just sick that my original calipers were perfect, but dirty, and I took them for plating when doing front bushings, and the plater who has done many very fine projects for me over 20+ years had an accident with these precious parts making them paperweights Did you try contacting Ate? I'm trying with no success yet. They have a division called "Ate Classic". Again, no luck so far. Who is Ate -Breaks? Can they reproduce the caliper housings?
I looked again. The one I found was from 400, and was exactly the same as my 512BB. I think, 400i has the same. ATE Classic is hard to reach. They don`t have used or new. Please send me pictures from yours, I will help you with ATE Classic. If I have your e-mail address, I will send you a offer, nearly the same, they will fit, but not original. I spend much time with calipers last year.... [email protected]
Thank you for the continued support. I just received a right front caliper that is supposed to be Boxer. It looks perfect? How can you tell if it's 400i? I thought the 400i didn't have the spacers because the 400i disc is thinner. But this one has the perfect 19mm spacers and 40mm pistons. I've got to take a pix of it. I'm very glad to have this! I called Ate. It seems I'm not really getting through to anyone who can help. That's ok. How did you lose a caliper? Best
I often called ATE and they never could help me. so I always go to switzerland ( just around the corner ) to a specialist and there I nearly get all
I just got a no-can-do reply from Ate. Why do they have the "Ate Classic" program? Ferrari Chat has been more helpful
ATE is working togehter with their "main distributors" and those are more able to get some from ATE classic. but those classic parts nearly none of those distributors knows about what ATE has or can do, because with the daily business they are already so busy that they have nearly no time to check with the older parts. and often those guys working at the distributors are not able to check. 2 days ago they sold you food and drink, yesterday they sold you insurances without having any knowledge, today they try to sell car parts to you and tomorrow they are also doing some without having the right knowledge. this is meanwhile the worldwide trouble we have since all is computerized
Without the spacers you can use the disc for cutting sausage, but not for breaking such heavy cars.
Needs to rebuild! But better than nothing! I don't need it, I have it in stock ...and no problem with ATE and spares for the brakes from ATE. We have cadmium plated the parts and fitted with new screws and gaskets or sent it to ATE for rebuild. Image Unavailable, Please Login
On my search for a right caliper, I found a german company, which offered me some new calipers, which look nearly the same as the original. But nearly.I found the 400i calipers and noticed, that they are the same. The guy who sold me a right one, has still the left one. ( see pictures ) To 2 dinos: When I bought my 512 BB, the caliper had a very small cut, and always some break fluid came out at the pistion. So I decided to change it. If someone needs calipers, I can help. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think I found them. Thank you for all of the help! Of course, I wound up with 4 front calipers. Six if you include the two dissolved ones. The car should stop really really well! Fritz: Those calipers look beautiful. Are they from Ate? I've given up on Ate. Cavallino70: Those look terrific as well. Are you saying those shiny calipers need rebuilding? These cars are so much fun! The 308 was a breeze for parts.
I got the address from ATE Classic, after some calls. The company is a ATE dealer. The calipers are new and original ATE. If someome needs, I will give the address. The guy there is very good and wants to help.
I'd sure like to know what company can get through to Ate. Their website tells how they can get brake hardware for classic cars, then you contact them, and they don't do anything. How we love them so!
