Now that the (new) GT3 has been out for a little while, I'm wondering how those of you who own them both (or have driven them back to back) compare the two?

most GT3 folks probably can't comment because:

    1) Their cars have already burnt down

    2) They haven't gotten their car because Porsche has halted deliveries indefinitely until they figure out the fire issue

    3) All GT3s have been recalled as of this post, and prior to recall owners were explicitly told NOT to drive their cars

I think the post knocking the gt3 is wrong. 2 cars caught fire which by the way so did the 458. They have not halted production, they told the owners tonstop driving them and have them checked out.

I own a 458 and my gt3 is on order and will arrive in april. I also a panamera gts so I know all about porsches and ferraris. They are both great brands. The gt3 is different than the 458 in so many ways good and bad.

Just honestly stupid to act like 458 and ferraris are far superior than a porsche. I ll bet you have not driven or owned either brand because if you didnyoubwould appreciate each one as they are unique and great.

When my gt3 arrives I will post a real owners comparison of the two cars.

The GT3 must be competitive with Ferrari... at last: New models are catching on fire.

Nobody said production halted, just deliveries of customer cars.

Besides that 1 point, the other 2 listed points are also fact. I guess I'm "knocking"...

In other news, there is still one in black at a local dealer for sale asking $25,000 over.

I can keep up with a GT3 RS in the twisties easily and out accelerate on the straights every time. And that's in a 360! I couldn't see why anyone would want to compare one to a 458 (??)

You are right, they are completely different. But implying in your statement that the GT3 RS may not be as good as a 360 is incorrect.

Both the 458 and GT3 RS are rewarding to drive in their own ways. The GT3 RS is a much more difficult car to drive and the rawness is amazing. The 458 is more technologically and electronically advanced.

Don't want to go into a huge discussion on both, but the GT3 RS would kill a 360 on the track in the hands of the same capable driver. 458...probably not.

It is an interesting but not fair comparison . After all , 458 is much more expensive .

Here in Germany the GT3 ist 137k without extras ( the Racing-Seats are more than 3k extra...), the Speciale is 233 k (Racing-seats included ;))
    Euros of course...

Asked for the price of a GT3 today because I was just curious. They offered me 8% off list-price, delivery not too far away as some cancelled their orders...

Sounds impressive that you would get a new GT3 for 8% off list, which is close to dealer cost. Thought the car would have been more popular in Germany.

In the US dealers are not offering any discounts at the moment. But, keep in mind they are only paying the equivalent of $95,000 euros for the car at list price which works out to 31% discount. :)

It's not fair you pay that much less... ;)

The GT3 is a quite special car and as the new Turbo is quite a blast many will take the Turbo instead...

I think, unlucky, it is not a nice moment for the Gt3..Just sold my GT3MkII and this one will have a better residual value in the next future thinking to the actual problems..

I am mentally shopping for a 458...and now the new GT3 comes out. I own a 997.2RS and absolutely love it. Adore it really. If the new GT3 hits all the right buttons..and is new...and has a warranty (vs a used 458) I am going to buy one.

Then trade up for a RS...

(no way will I sell my 997.2RS....absolutely brilliant car)

Performance wise (at least on paper) they seem like they are pretty close and they both now only offer DC transmissions. A used 458 can now be purchased in the low $200 range and the GT3's seem to start in the $150's. Not quite equal, but close enough for comparison purposes. I look forward to the comparison davidcbrown, thanks.
