My thoughts are: why should anyone selling a car raise any eyebrows?

There is a time for buying and a time for selling, for a myriad of reasons, some of which can be very profitable, besides, not everyone wants to hold on to the same car forever.

Albert's car has been listed in the forsale area on fchat. Sold.
What's odd is why he doesn't reply to any of this questioning.

I thought it unusual for 2 reasons. I figure someone who is willing to sell their car would show a losing sense of interest. Alberto is one of the passionate posters whose interest seemed to know no end. Like yourself. Second, at the exact time in the car's history when values seem to be catching up with the legend, why would you sell now?
But like you said, a myriad of reasons can exist with only the owner knowing the truth.
And it never feels good losing a member of a brotherhood.

the car was listed at $350K and its sold alredy before even many knew it was for sale?? you are kidding right? I know the market is red hot but nonetheless that is brisk!

If the price acheived for that 5000S was above $300K, I guess we have to seriouly revise all the estimates range on all models.

I believe it was a 250k USD asking price. I hope I'm not confusing the recent talk with a different car! I am referring to the ad EarlyCat was able to link, white 1982.

imo I don't find it "odd" or anything about anyone selling any car i just hate to
see someone with the true passion sell their car.. it seems like when the cars
move on we loose track of it and the previous owner. Plus he has been through
sooo much with his car. For sure someone will end up with a great car.

Italy has a need for tax money. I know they are tightening a lot of lose ends and they probably go after high end cars. It is not fun financially to have an exotic in most European countries but a few. You are THE black sheep..

In Italy the over 20 years old "special cars" can be inscribed in the ASI (automobile storico italiano) list
once you show your car datas, pics and papers they will give you a certificate of "historic revelance" , sometime they want to see the car in person, sometime not
i did it twice for my cars

the car is then exampt from taxes and you only pay 27 euro/year
the insurance cost for these cars goes down to 100 euro or 150 / year

so any countach and early diablos today are not a problem in Italy
the new cars on the other hand ....have VERY hig taxes and nobody want to touch them

First: that white one wasn't mine, it was sold by the owner (and not via L Chat or Lpower) just few days after i helped the owner to sell his car by publishing the car here and on Lpower. The car was purchased by a very famous Russian fellow, but i had no part in that sale: i just wrote "sold" on the ad.

I put the ad of my car on Austoscout last saturday night february 22. I did not even put the ad here or on Lpower. I do not know if i will sell the car the day someone will come here and will offer me the money: i will decide in that moment. Last week i sold my mint '87 Porsche 911 3.2 coupè and, despite the big money i was given, i'm not happy at all: trust me i'm very sad. The idea was to sell all the three classic cars i have and then try to get an S1, but i just learned that with 300-350 K euro (410-480 k usd) you do not get (and restore) any S1, so i do not know what i will do now. Sure i will go for another car to restore, maybe less expensive. I put the ad on Autoscout just saturday evening so i do not know what will happen, nor if someone will pay the big money i asked: i won't let her go for less than that, so maybe i will keep it as nobody will buy it. I just know that the best thing i remember of that car was to see the car growing up and becoming an awesome swan, so i would like to do it again: it would be a wonderful hobby. Who knows.

I have a wife and she always tells me "sell it sell it sell it sell it sell it sell it sell it ": so i put the car for sale and she is very happy now. But i asked big money so it will be not easy to sell it and i will keep the car for some time of forever, who knows!

Taxes are not an issue, here you do not pay any tax for 20+ years old ASI cars: just 26 euro per year. I have three and i pay just 78 euro each year for all three.

    ciao

the new owner isn't (anymore) a politician. He owns many but many cars (and a very big yacht...) and likes very much english soccer

    ciao
