At this time I'm writing an article about the celebration of the 30st anniversary of the GTO for the Dutch Ferrari Club magazine Gli Amici della Ferrari. I own a copy of the Joe Sackey GTO Book too, but there's absolutely no need to take it of the shelf for checking facts. It's simply too superficial...

    Wouter,

Thank you for buying the book!

You've described exactly what this book wasn't intended for - fact checking! It wasn't designed as a historical tome replete with reams of boring text about vintage cars to lull the reader asleep. If you were looking for a dictionary-style intense catalog of everything that ever happened to every GTO over the last 30 years I'm afraid you'll have to write that one yourself! The more books on the subject, the better, IMVHO.

This book was simply a celebration of Ferrari's first Supercar, and most people (as you can see from this thread) clearly get that.

Thanks again for getting it, perhaps in time you'll view it and use it in the way I intended.

    Best,

I m glad too!! It was a great period, and the book helps
    to remember those times!

It will be nice to see some pics during the top speed in Nardo, or during
the Paris salon in 84. If I remember well a magasine US or UK
did a test car with the 288 and 190 Mercedes Evo, drivers was M Alboreto vs
S Johanson. But no cash, no magasine,I was 16 yo. :-/

Just bought a copy of the 288 GTO book. In a word, stunning !! Always thought it was one of the most beautiful cars Ferrari ever made and your book reflects that. It is a nice companion piece to my copy of the Italian Automoblia book on the same subject. Well done Joe !!
