I'm pretty sure he won't need a temporary plate. If you are registered as resident in that country for any period longer than 3 months, but less than 12 months, then the car must be registered with the authorities. Hence the temporary plates. As a tourist you can drive a car registered in your home country (non EU) for something like 3 months. Your insurer will probably need to know the car is not in the US.

Das müsste der aus der Sammlung sein, die vor einiger Zeit über Norwegen abgewickelt wurde. Müsste einen Glasdeckel über dem Motor haben. Ein gelbes Cabrio gabs auch und noch einen silberen testa und in irgendeinem verde. Müsste die VIN irgendwo haben - nur wo???

Hopefully someone will chime in with some goings-on in the Frankfurt area. I know in Stuttgart there are several meets organised during the year. Martin has posted pics from them in this thread.
