I got my 4C LE last weekend... It's a great car. Honestly, having had a cayman s, and a few others, I find the alfa very uncomposed but thrilling at the same time. Honestly, it's one car I miss having not driven it in 4 days. Two takeaways: This car is not a daily driver, the interior engine noise is very laud and the general drive is sporty but demanding. I find the bug-eyed front headlights surprisingly appealing. Honestly I thought I would hate them, but I actually consider them additive to the car, and would not consider replacing them. Thay add complexity to the design. p.s. The white pearlescent paint is one big mess with explicit washing challenges and others... Honestly I would not go for that option... Too much hassle. Elad
Congratulations Elad on getting your new 4C LE! Sounds great! Please explain what you mean by "uncomposed"? It must be a really enjoyable driver if you miss it after 4 days. Glad to hear that the lights look better in person too. Are you in North America or Europe btw? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I mean, it's not refined and composed, it has 50's feel in that it's edges are not engineered out, but in a very positive way. It's raw and brutal but demands respect. The lights are fine, even more then just fine. The cabin noise is one distinctive feature with the sport exhaust, it's LOUAD with the turbo noise and others making sure they are being heard. Honestly, it's the first modern car I have cared for since I can remember. Elad
Honestly... someone show me a car with more exposed CF than this one that doesn't cost less than $1m.
There isn't another one being made at anywhere near this price range, yet Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thank you for your input about the car, Elad. Its refreshing to hear from someone who actually has one and has driven it. Youve affirmed many of my own impressions and postulations after only having sat in one for 5 minutes and pored over the three examples on display for hours last year in Geneva. Its a simple, quirky, and seductive bit of automotive art/machinery: Essence of Alfa. Itll be great to hear more of your impressions after youve had more time with the car (and pictures, of course!). So get out and drive it some more so we can live vicariously here in the US while we wait to hear if/when/where we might one day also get to buy one to play with.
Congrats Elad, Now we only need to get the cars into the UK and everyone in Europe will have started to get deliveries PS Israel is in Europe if you ask FIFA and UEFA ;-)
Didn't you learn anything from what MacGeek explained to you various times in the other thread??? That's the same as the 4C!
Yes mr School Principle I did learn, so the 4c is made the same as those others. Nevertheless the exposed parts on the exterior on the spyder look to be cosmetic, whereas on the Zonda and Konigsegg I saw the exposed parts were actual structural cabon fiber, just as the xposed areas of the 4c tub are actual structural CF. My point being the 4c has the good parts, it does not have to fake it in other areas like ferrari does.
Acording to EVO in the Uk its a fabric roof, acording to other sources its a lift out CF panel, neither of those would be auto.
I think the CF roof is an option. My feeling is a folding fabric roof will not sell in the US at this price.
Did you read your above post? MOSTLY real and structural which is exactly the same as on the 4C 99% of the carbon fibre on the 4C is "real" as you call and of the same quality as the one found on the LaFerrari, etc... If you expect every part on the 4C or any other car to only have structural carbon fibre I think you are "dreaming". Even the Pagani, LaFerrari, P1 and Konigsegg have some non-structural carbon fibre bits. Anyway you can keep going on about this as much as you want as it seems like you have your ideas and you are not willing to listen to people who know.... At the moment there is only a fabric folding roof that can be stowed in the boot. There will probably a CF hard top option but it isn't sure yet as it would not be possible to stow it anywhere in the car when removed.
The problem with a non-stowable roof panel IMO is that it turns the car into a coupe, except for short trips when there is no possibility of rain. Maybe that is some owners' planned mission for the car, but I'd plan to drive it more. I've never wanted the hardtop for my Elise and would not want one for the 4C. That said, hardtops are very popular for the Elise, so I bet they are for this car, too.
I think I'll get the coupe now, actually. The FIAT X1/9 had a brilliant setup where the targa top stowed in the front boot on rubber bushings. There was still room to put a decent amount of cargo in there too. Plus, there was a second boot in the back. I took a 3K+ mile adventure in mine! Cheers, George
