Speaking for one of my Ferraris only, that was lost by the original owner to the Canadian Tax Authorities, I can see every wholesale transaction on it, thru a few auction entities, and then on to two private owners before I purchased it.

Especially if the car is crossing International borders or even state to state, that is the only legal way to do it, as every sale is taxable to the locale it occurs, and/or the state where the car is issued new title.

Lawyers or real dealers can chime in they know the rules.

This car just has some more "fingerprints" on the sales record, that it does valid title activity.

CARFAX does not handle my older 5 digit VINs, but modern cars the descrepancy shows up immediately.

On newer cars this is also how there can be mileage discrepancy. Too much paperwork for hand changing or contract filling work.
My car show mileage discripancy twice on the carfax but come back to normal at some point. If you do the calculation of average year mileage from all the other readings and total it, the actual mileage is right on target. That is why I bought the car even if carfax was not consitent.

Also the condition of the car prove it.

Like I said buyer has to do his homework before buying.

Dino has a nice car and no one should worry about who owned it before. Look at the car, inspect it and buy it if it please you.

This, the TR market is certainly churning right now. Glad I made my deal back in December, it's almost like watching a commodity. I can say that my car has only had three real owners prior to me, as long as you don't include Ferrari of Washington who sold it new:)

I have seen pics of the engine out both ways and I cringe when I see one pulled with straps. The reason I ask about taking the engine out the top with straps is, doesn't that put alot of strain on the plenum/bolts? Maybe enough strain to crack the intake or pull the bolts? Also, any answers on the water pump...isn't that part of the regular service? Just asking for my future reference.

After looking at CNC 512 and the one just sold at auction for $143K with almost as much miles on it Dino's car is worth all his asking price. His car look to be a very nice car and good car as much as the two others.

Keep faith Dino it will sell to the right buyer.

I came here looking for a Ferrari, but after reading some of these threads, I'm not sure how many sellers can be trusted.

Regardless, and I say this as a disinterested lurker, you are, in my opinion, a dishonest and truly unrepentant person. Moreover, your attitude is disgraceful and serves only to reinforce the stereotype of lawyers as strident and dogmatic whores.

Finally, when you have to complain that you've been defamed time and time again, it tells me that the people who are allegedly libeling you likely have truth as an absolute defense.

    Dino, GLWS.

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. I believe Dino has been very truthful and honest about his TR. I believe 99.999% of the people here are honest people who care very much about the Ferrari hobby. I collect cars as a hobby and I am not a dealer. I have probably conducted 20-30 transactions over the past two years buying and selling (mostly buying LOL) cars, including two Ferraris, and I have had great experiences every time. Not one complaint. In fact, I have made a lot of great friends through these transactions. However, I always protected myself. I always had a PPI done, run a carfax, and I always kept the money in escrow, only releasing it after I received everything promised to me in the deal and receiving a signed bill of sale. If it takes too long and the deal goes away, oh well, it wasn't meant to be. There will always be another car. There are predators in every business and hobby, anywhere where there is money, you will find them. If you identify one, run away no matter how good the deal seems, because it isn't. As long as you don't let your emotions get the best of you and you watch your back, you'll be fine.

I believe most sellers are relatively honest in this arena. The threads with people up
to strange behavior get lots of bandwidth. But there are many cars that transact here
with little drama as the buyer and seller deal with each other fairly.

The Ferrari universe is not so huge that one can outrun the internet.

Take your time and learn about the car you are looking for and be willing to walk
away if something does not feel right.

This 512 TR appears well marketed and is a nice car.
Dino appears to have cleaned it up well and is marketing it straightforwardly.

The other thread that is quite popular right now in the classifieds should not cast
its tainted shadow unfairly upon this one.

I agree with you... The red at CNC was priced low to move. I like this yellow over a red TR all day long. Stick with it Dino...

I understand why his g/f may have gotten screwed, but why do you say his entire collection was lost? I've bought two cars from his estate for clients.

    Congrats!!
