I followed the instructions in the DIY section for the yellow tach upgrade, however after reinstalling the tach back in my car the needle is now at position -1 and will not return to the zero position. I moved the needle back to 0, but as soon as I turn the key to position 1 the needle returns to -1. I noticed several f members have already done this modification and I'm looking for some input on how to resolve this issue. Also i did not start the car after the process and I disconnected the power via the trunk off switch prior to starting the process. Does the car need to be turned on for the tach to recalibrate or is there some other issue I should be worried about? Thx guys Carmine

I had the same issue -- mine was below zero with the engine not running. I had to remove the whole unit again and very very carefully remove the needle without rotating it and then very very carefully put it back on pointing at zero. I must gave somehow rotated the spindle as I was removing the needle. It does not recalibrate itself. Before putting the instrument cluster back in, I plugged in all of the connectors and then started the engine to make sure it stopped at zero. IIRC I didn't switch off the battery and shouldn't be an issue if you don't turn on the ignition while the cluster is disconnected.

    Hi Guys,
I am very well aware of the needle issue and have taken off and then put back on at zero only to have the needle not center at the bottom like your pic.
    I did find the solution.
Take off the black side panel and wind the needle the opposite (clockwise). You will feel it stop, go a tiny bit further. Then plug in the unit and turn on the power. Check to make sure it is perfectly at 6:00. Once confirmed, turn power off, unplug and put everything back together. Let me know if you have any questions, glad to help

Not quite that bad. I only had to do it the once (was very careful) but did try it before putting the cluster back as it is a pain to remove.

I had the same issue a few weeks back, what i did was remove needle , plug in the instruments with no front panel ,with ignition on but car not running put needle back on just slightly , run car and check it returns to correct position, push needle on completely then re-fit everything.

Ok, I did as Glenn instructed, but as soon as I turned the key "nothing". Then I realized that I left the front trunk open and i completely forgot that the car is equity with a trunk lamp, which of course drained my battery completely. Thanks guys for the responses and I'll keep you posted.

    Glenn,
I see you have replaced your 1995 348 Spider (my "Franchesca's" twin) with another Rosso Corsa beauty! I like the lines of the coupe, but I need the convertible to really feel/hear the symphony from the V-8. I hope business is going well & I always get questions where ever I go about the carbon fiber airbox & door sills. I forward people to your website. Have a great day!
