How is short vertical stainless trim piece that go down the door held in place? Was it originally soldered to the top curved piece? Mine off is in two pieces, but there are no screw holes.

This trim was originally one piece but if it has been taken off and flexed much it breaks easily at the corner. Mine was in one piece and I managed to break it. You could micro weld the two pieces together which is what I will do.

I would not weld it for risk of damaging the trim beyond repair. Its to thin

Mine is broken as well and I just glued it in place with small dabs of adhesive in the groove. Not too much so it can be removed if need be

I agree you can get by in fine fashion by not welding the corner and may be the safest way to go but a competent welder can tig it, at least my guy can. I think even if you don't weld you would have to look close to notice.

    Hi Alberto
I found someone to repair mine. He spent MANY hours on it and it looks great. I left in Chicago for along time and they finally said that the couldn't repair it so I picked it up and found an old hot rodder who fixed it by welding, filing, welding, filing the polishing.
I did find some new ones in Italy (about $500 for the pair as I recall) but they were going to be chromed.
    Cheers,
    George
