K1 Speed Karting in Arlington

K1 Speed Indoor Karting, which has locations all over the country, has just opened a facility in Arlington. The manager there reached out to our local FCA President to see if any Ferrari owners would like to be part of their Grand Opening Ceremony next Friday (3/21). As I live right around the corner from K1, I was asked to get the details on this.

They are having a ribbon cutting ceremony starting at 4:00 the afternoon of Friday, March 21. They will have reserved parking for us and as an incentive, anyone that brings their Ferrari will get a free race. They plan on having the Mayor of Arlington, a couple of Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders as well as other invited guests. They have invited local media to attend and he promised our cars will be showcased and protected while there. Anyone interested would need to be there by 3:30. We need to have a car count by Wednesday to guarantee parking. If you are interested in attending, please reply here or PM me.

This is just their opening ceremony we are helping with. Hopefully we can get some kind of racing league set up. They have all kinds of packages and are willing to work with Ferrari Club members to set up special rates. I haven't driven the karts yet but will report back once we have a chance to test them out. Even if you can't bring your car, come on out Friday after work and check the place out. We probably won't be racing until after 5:00 if you want to join in the race or just laugh at us trying to drive.

 

OK Mr. Experienced in rear-ending Rob, this place is 15 minutes from your work. Come on and show us rookies how its done. The challenge has been put forth... are you willing to accept

 

For anyone coming out, K1 is located at 1801 E. Lamar Blvd. in Arlington. I would not recommend driving on Lamar as it is all under construction. The better way is to go North on Ballpark Way from I-30 and go past Lamar one block (QT on the corner) and turn left on Brookhollow Plaza Dr. Heading West on Brookhollow Plaza Dr. go to the first stop sign and K1 is on the left. Turn left on Ascension (ignore the road closed sign as it pertains to Lamar) and turn left into K1 parking lot.

Looks like we have a pretty good turnout if you are thinking of attending or just want to come out to watch.

 

Thanks to all that showed up Friday afternoon. We ended up having 8 of Italy's finest in the parking lot and 8 of DFW's finest drivers get a chance to drive the karts. Decorum prevents me from letting everyone know who had the best overall average lap time and the fastest lap time

From what I heard, everyone that drove was surprised at how much fun and competitive these are to drive. Let's just say there was some big smiles and tired bodies after completing our laps.

Once the "new" wears off a little and the crowds die down, we may try to get some kind of racing league up. Contact me if interested or keep reading F-Chat for updates.
