Ferrari FF: PH Fleet - PistonHeads Cult car... thinking I should have done that rather than an F12... we will see. Great to see Chris getting the man maths done every time.
He's only planning to keep the car for like 6 months or so. Dunno what he's going to get next, but it will feel a little bit dull after the FF. Secretly hopping for a FF video now from him
He has that as well he made a video of it too. Considering he also has a supercharged Range Rover I guess he is on his local petrol station's christmas card list. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLNJ_RLWlmI]The 1992 Ferrari 512 TR: A /DRIVE Film. - YouTube[/ame]
"Much quicker than an F12 too;" This doesn't make sense. As for space packaging I have been amazed by the fact that the FF is only 11" longer than the F12, and for that you get real rear seats and the FWD system in front of the engine.
in recent years he's owned a 512 TR, 575M, 612, 599 GTB and now the FF. Maybe a few others I don't know about too.
You need to take the whole quote "The FF is very fast - much quicker than the 612. Much quicker than an F12 too; on a damp morning with temperatures dipping to zero the combination of manageable, naturally aspirated torque, all-wheel-drive and a dual-clutch gearbox are unbeatable "
Good lad, nice read.... Two things I have to differ with him , firstly I think the privacy glass in the rear windows is a must for me ... Also I much prefer the way the cars look on the 'bling' wheels.... Each to their own
You think that he is referring only to slippery, cold conditions only. That might make sense, but it is ambiguous.
On the privacy glass, I think that having it does encourage you to continue the dark glass to the driver's window. Or alternatively, just order the car without it and install a milder tint level per your own taste.
Bling wheels? No privacy glass. First I'd hardly call the option wheels bling! And as above privacy glass certainly makes the car complete. Here's a shot of mine. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Can I ask why this is a must have option for you? Is purely aesthetic or it to prevent people from seeing who's in the rear?
For me it's aesthetic. It also leaves those not in the know with a surprise when you show them the space in the rear, because you simply cannot see them through the privacy glass.
Regarding privacy I see it 2 ways, I thought about it for my F12 order, as I wanted to keep the luggage area more secure and private, but it did change the look for me so decided against it. Each to their own , it is what you like not others. I don't really like the standard wheels though, and prefer the option. I think it is great that a journalist puts his own money into such cars, few others do, and there is a monumental difference between road testing someone else's car, and paying your own bills.
I heartily agree. When my stock broker encourages me to invest in something he is pushing he knows that I will ask him, "How much have YOU put into this?" And it is also encouraging that a successful automotive journalist can afford to buy into one of these cars.
We have very similar taste in cars reflex ... I was being tongue in cheek with the bling comment on the wheels, I wouldn't have any others , they really finish the car well too me Privacy glass is a must for me purely for aesthetics , just really like the look. Not just on this car, but on many others , once I have seen privacy rear windows I find non privacy ones I bit 'soft' looking for want of a better expression. We have a black range rover as well, and everytime I see one of those without the privacy glass it just looks wrong to me , just ruins the look But hey this is just my opinion, chris Harris clearly doesn't like privacy glass on the ff as I am sure many folk do.... Differant strokes, differant folks..... United though in the appreciation if what a fantastic machine the ff is
I know what you mean, even my defender has privacy in the rear! I bet if that car Monkey bought came with privacy and bling wheels he'd be singing their praises! It'll be nice to hear how he gets on.
I use my FF all year round and agree it is probably the quickest production car you can use in typical normal dam UK winter months and without a continuous white knuckle drive. Prefer non tint glass and have std winter wheels + dual spoke summers I think both look well colour Grigo Ferro.
He brought it down to Combe track day a couple of weeks ago, had a long chat as i was considering an FF, he offered to let me have a go but sadly it failed the noise level test, think it was 120db!!!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
