Hypothetically if you had to pick a pair of vintage Ferrari's which two would you pick. Due to the almost daily increase in values this is a hypothetical question for most.

My two would be the following

400 SuperAmerica Aerodinamico SN 2861: For me these cars exude class, the shape to me on paper looks stunning, they were the best of their day, bought buy some truly interesting characters. I'd like to think you have really arrived if you had to turn up anywhere in one of these cars.

412P 0854: has there been more exotically styled sports racing cars then these Ferrari P cars, I cant think of too many that combine the drop dead gorgeous looks these cars have. Never mind to actually drive.

Which would be your perfect pair?

    Interesting question.
Always said would like a 166MM barchetta and a 250LM. Early and late one. Can't be more different. Went close, had the LM, could not put my hands on a good Barchetta, passed on 2 questionable ones ( rebodied, etc) and then gave up. Probably won't ever be able to get that combination. Does not matter, life moves on!
With money No object I would go for a pontoon TR 250 and again a 166MM barchetta. Two generations of race cars. Or a 290MM and a 512S ( not M, line were too much altered) again 2 generations.
If money was ( more) limited (!?) and street cars, would go for a PF series one cabriolet cum bumperette and fender grille ( how many real ones?) and a 275 ( any of them frankly, much better value than a steel SWB and wonderful cars to drive, all of them).
Combination of a PF series 1 and Nart spyder in garage would be nice to look at, though!
    Sweet dreams Jacques!

The LM must have been amazing to own! Have seen David Pipers one a few times and hearing that car is still a great memory.

There is a very nice 166MM here in SA, very long term ownership but the great thing is the car is driven often, remember sitting at a traffic light around 3 years ago in a 430 Scud and the 166MM pulled up next to me. Suffice to say it was quite a special moment.

Perhaps, if we go back to reality, I can chime in here.

I like my cars--the 250 PF Coupe and the 330 GTC

You have an early car as well as a great driving car. Both are different and you have a nice example of two early cars. Plus, we are not talking about $10 Million + for each car.

My favorite shape is the 250 SWB - and given that this would exhaust any lottery winnings - my second would be a slightly less expensive 275 GTS.

Very nice pair! If circumstances dictated that you could only keep one of them - which would it be? My guess would be the 330...

SWB (any one, i'm not picky) and a 288 GTO would make me incredibly happy.

One thing when I was thinking about my selection, going through all the cars Ferrari has made over the years, without question I think there is no other marque with such a catalogue of great/unique/characterful cars over such a period of time.

Its is genuinely tough to pick just two!

    Hi Pierre,
Nah, I am cheating but you got all the landmarks!! Not at the same time, but that is just a detail.
The PF series 1 is something we discussed 4 years ago.......we both should have bought one!

    Ciao

I would keep the 330 GTC--if I could keep one

The 250 is fun--but the early cars are harder to drive---not as nice touring the road, etc.

But, you cannot compare any of these to the modern cars like the 599.
Technology is so far ahead --that is why, BEFORE getting into an early car, you have
to remind yourself "This is 50 years old"
