Excellent, but can anyone explain the fully enclosed braking system to me ? It doesn't make sense, I know the air is funneled in via ducting but I would have thought the more exposure to heat release the better . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Might be due to aerodynamics, might be a part of the ERS system, or possibly better cooling. Not sure. I do know that optimum brake rotor cooling is achieved by forcing air into the center of the rotor and have it escape out through the holes/vanes on the outer edges. I think it's just forcing the air to flow out through the outside face of the wheel instead of giving it a chance to come back out the inside face and affect airflow to the rest of the car. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
I'm guessing that part of the issue too is that the brakes have to be kept up to a particular running temperature and the enclosure may be what is keeping them in that ideal operating range. Leave them open and it might cool too much inbetween uses.
