Are they using the same sensors as F1? If so, then all teams in Le Mans are using the same sensor. So why complain? Oh, because they got DQ'd for running their own fuel rate after being told they were running too high a rate and to turn it down. All other teams complied with the FIA.
Quoted for truth. particularly since there are other threads on this forum heralding the return of Martini as Williams' title sponsor. JP
Top and bottom of it, Redbull exploited the fact the sensors were not up to scratch and as you say ignored instructions, so the Redbull-headed way was to play by their own rules, well I'am sorry that is plain flat wrong, along with now stating they may pull out of F1, it stinks, no team is bigger than the sport and fair play for all is needed. I feel sorry for Ricciardo, he drove a great race, but there again he had the fuel to burn when he needed it, so I cannot see how they could have dealt with it any other way. In Redbulls Infinite wisdom they probably thought they could get away with it, wrong move, play by the rules. The rules may stink, maybe wrong, but as long as they are the same for all I have no problem.
There's no excuse for willfully disobeying a direct instruction. (Of course if the FIA hadn't eff upped the sensor it wouldn't be an issue in the first place.) Too bad for Ricardo. But I suspect that there'll be other podia in his future.
Apparently the FIA messed up with the supplier, but it was somewhat beyond the control of the federation. Still it's not good enough.
I still can't figure out where all their money comes from??? I don't know ANYONE that buys/drinks Red Bull.
LOL I know what was I thinking.. Yes mind boggling, however I did get smashed on it with vodka back in the day... I needed to stay awake.
It's quite addictive, in a very synthetic way. They even got caught using cocaine in their red bull cola, which was then removed from the shelves. I think only coca cola is allowed to use it.
Martini is a much, much smaller company and they are sponsoring Williams this year. That one actually surprises me more. RB is a sponsor ( they use their ad budget) and a chassis manufacturer so they get constructor money and race winnings. Martini just pays. You can ask the same thing about where Ferrari gets it's money from selling 6000 cars a year. I'm sure RB realized years ago it was more efficient to reach its target audience through extreme sports and events than traditional TV advertising.
As long as those sports and events are considered cool, not lame F1 is slipping into the lame column.
I think that us the issue. They will continue to support advertising until the sport becomes a joke or meaningless. If you guys want 4 cars out of the field, go ahead and tell them goodbye. You have they right but you also must face the consequences.
Red Bull was committed to F1 during all the winning years, but not while finding itself off the podium with problems? Weird philosophy since Red Bull sponsors almost every type of sport on the planet.
Well, the cameras around a circuit are mostly pointed towards the leaders. If your cars aren't among that lot, the return diminishes for the sponsor in term of exposure.
I think he's thinking of leaving not only for Ricciardo's issue, but because what F1 has become. He's right it's a joke now. And many promoters say the same thing (Walker even called it a 'disgrace'). No way I'm going to spend my money to watch the worst sounding cars in all racing, and I'm sure many fans are on the same boat. We'll see what effect all of that has as the season progresses.
