Lately every time I open a thread this web site seems to try to install some type of app on my PC. I'm running Windows 7with IE 11. Then, it takes a while for any post except the first post to load. Today it got worse. If I try to go to any page in a thread other than the last page, all I can get to is the 1st post on that page. None of the posts after the 1st on that page will load.

More info. This seems to be a function of which pop up add is loaded. If the pop up add from Degree is loaded after the 1st post on a page, none of the other posts below the pop up add will load. If the ad is from another vender the other posts seem to load. Same result with FireFox. Also appears that since pop up ads are loaded every few posts on a given page, all the post before the Degree ad will load. Bu once the Degree ad is loaded it terminates page loading any further. So you have Post, ad, post, post...post, degree ad, stop.

I not about to spend 1 cent to fix a problem that should not be there. Nor will I spend 1 cent to discuss whether a GTS is better than a spider or better than a GTB, or a 348 better than a 355.....or what's the best sounding exhaust... Nor will I pay 1 cent for the privilege of offering help to those who need it. However, if I decided to list my car for sale I'm happy to pay for that privilege. Or if I want to read the private forums I'd be happy to subscribe. But I'm not about to pay for the privilege of not seeing ads that the site owner is getting paid to display. I don't view the adds as obtrusive. In some cases they are even useful. But if an ad is locking up a page load that is a problem the site owner should address. I have PMed Rob on this.

The subscribed forums (including one just for owners) are worth far more than the $15. You have no idea what you're missing. You've been here a long time (coming up on 10 years), take a bigger bite. :)

I've opened a discussion on your report in the mod forum. Hopefully we'll get to the bottom of it. Subscribed or not, there shouldn't be severe browsing issues like that.

Have you scanned your computer for spyware / browser hijacks? Just want to eliminate that as a variable.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Andrew, I have a similar problem whenever I'm on an iPad or iPhone. (Not using the tapatalk app)

Frequently when I click on a thread to read it, I'll be redirected to the app store to a strategy game app (it's the same app every time, called "game of war" if I recall correcly). It happens on almost a daily basis, and is particularily annoying since it happens automatically and there is no way to cancel these auto redirects on the mobile version of the web browser. (it is not regulated by the pop-up blocker).

I realize this may be beyond the control of the FChat team, but nonetheless a very invasive method of marketing, and IMO something that should be reported to the company responsible for advertising on the site.

Thanks Andrew. I would not have titled the thread as I did had I realized the source of the problem at time. My PCs are clean and I have the problem with the "Degree" ad locking up the page load on all of them, and, as I said, with IE 11 and 9 and Fire Fox. The attempt to install aps or what ever is a separate issue which only happens on my W7 machine, or at least I only see the install box pop up on the w7 machine.

    Fair call.

You shouldn't have to pay to learn that a (F)355GTS with a Capristo or Nouvalari exhaust is the best car in the world....
It should be taught in school.

But you see you are wrong. It's like that old joke about either you are sick or you are well. Either you want the top to come off (spider) or you don't (GTB). The GTS is for people who can make a decision. :)

Or maybe the GTS is like A Tale of Two Cities, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way..." And so we engage on another diverted thread about nothing. :(

The issue is this Degree pop up is blocking page loads.

OK, can be a few things here, but we'll figure it out.

First of all, no pop up ads should EVER appear on FerrariChat whether browsing from desktop or mobile device! if one appears it can be our fault (ad network sending us bad ads) or your fault (malware infected computer).

My experience lately that popup ads from desktops are malware on your computer and that the app store game ads etc from mobile devices are fault of our ad network.

I do agree you should never see pop up ads whether subscribed or not.

I suggest a malware scan and I will also check with our ad network. Thanks.

As this thread continues to derail - as they all do - you are proving yourself right.
You don't have to pay to have this debate.

The GTS is for those who love the lines of the Berlinetta, but also like to have their comb-overs swaying in the breeze occasionally.
That's why the GTS is consistently the most expensive and most sought after version of the 355.

It's also why Ferrari, McLaren, and Lamborghini have now returned to the GTS body style, even if they now call it a Spider because it sounds sexier.

Sounds logical, as I've NEVER experienced a pop up ad on FChat whilst on a PC/Mac.

But the auto direct to the aforementioned app store game keeps occuring on my mobile devices. Although it hasn't been as intense in the last couple of days. In a period a couple of weeks ago, it would happen on at least a third of the thread links I clicked on from my subscription panel.

Rob, let me clarify. Perhaps I mistakenly referred to the Degree ad as a pop up. Actually it appears as a non sponsored ad between posts. Once that ad appears the remainder of the page is block from loading.

No its because all spiders have to have some kind of roll bar now,its the law ,A true convertible would look funny with a roll bar that's why they returned to the gts style.
As far as the GTS being worth more that all depends what part of the world you live in.
    Not so in canada

we had a bad problem with it about 4-8 weeks ago, but had it fixed at least temporarily, if it is back last couple weeks then I need to follow up with ad network, I have already sent them email.

FYI mobile games are making a killing and the source of most advertising dollars on mobile, but in our case we don't want auto redirects to the app store. when we had the problem last month I witnessed it first hand and it is annoying!

OK, that's a little good news because pop up ads from desktop are very concerning whether fault on your desktop or our server. If it doesn't load past the ad then I suspect 1) you have a browser compatibility problem. 2) network connection (slow internet or bad connection to ad network). I almost guarantee if when that happens you use another browser that it will work. You shouldn't have to change browsers, but sometimes you do. It frustrates me completely that I like IE, but when doing much with Google I have to use Chrome.

That could be an issue with the ad itself with java calling to an outside link, if the link is not established the rest of the code below that point will not display. Definitely a problem here.
I use chrome as I am a google team player.

VB has had issues with this in the past. There is a fix but it's been so long since I used VB3 software I cant remember.

Did we address the tapatalk pop up that comes up and you have to select skip. I think most times this happens from my ipad.

Interesting, I've been noticing this for awhile on my iPhone. Constant redirect to app store. Thought I had hit something by accident the first couple times because there are often game ads that i see on the site, but was happening almost daily and not only on this forum. Glad there will hopefully be some resolution!
