    Hi Barry,

I'm more than willing and capable to do the work but last year when I read the requirements, a sanctioned shop was required to do an inspection before the event.

Thank you so much for the help and tip, I'll give Jim a call. Looking forward to seeing you again and the event!!

Right, Dave, if your local shop is sanctioned, they can prep your car and complete the tech inspection form. Then all you would have to do at the event is hand in your form at tech inspection that morning. They would give your car another look-over and affix the tech inspection sticker on your windshield. That's how it works with my car as it's seviced and maintained by Classic Coach, a sanctioned shop.

If your shop is not sanctioned by the FCA Track Event Section, then your car will undergo full tech inspection at the track. The servicing I mentioned would likely sufice for the novice run groups, but you'll not want to be disappointed by not passing tech inspection that morning.

Again, since Classic Coach will be doing tech inspections at both the Spring and Labor Day Weekend DE events, it's a good idea to call Jim at Classic for specific instructions. He'll be happy to explain everything you'll need to do to get your car ready for the event and pass tech inspection at the track.

Speaking of valve stem covers and I apologize in advance if this is already been addressed, but does anybody have a picture of what they look like. I am the original owner of my 92 348TB and it came with three different valve stem caps.

Go to the tire store and get some black rubber caps.

Get rid of the Logo Caps. The car already has enough prancing ponies.

I use to show Mopars at the national level and the judges were very particular about things like that, even the stem caps. Would like to see a photo of what should have been on my car (92 348tb) from the factory.

I am an IAC/PFA senior judge. This is not the MOPAR club. We don't get hung up on stupid stuff.

    Get 4 black rubber caps.

Hi Brian, do you guys take off points for a 6 disc CD changer that is in the front of the trunk. I have gotten multiple platinums at our exotic car show which has judges from the Ferrari club of America but I cannot ever get the actual results on the judging to see what points I received or what the deductions were for. Any ideas on this? Thanks

No deductions for audio equipment provided it is installed in a professional manner and it does not in the opinion of the judge detract from the car.

That usually translates into minimal equipment. No one wants to see a Ferrari transformed into a self propelled boom box.

If you're not getting requested score sheets you should be complaining to someone.

My experience is that most judges do not know originality details but they judge like it's a beauty contest. At least that is my experience with my Bizzarrini GT 5300.

You can also show display only and don't worry be happy.

Avoiding that is exactly why the IAC/PFA was formed.

A class judged by a knowledgable judge can be worth its weight in gold because it is a tremendous learning experience for an owner if you have an open mind. You can learn a lot about your car's original condition spending a thoughtful 15 minutes with the right judge.

The most hard-core judging I have ever witnessed was a Jaguar club national event. I came up on a Mark II Saloon where a judge was kneeling on the grass, leaning into the interior holding a magnifying glass and a ruler. He got up and informed the owner that his Wilton wool carpets had only11 loops per inch when they should have 14 (or some such number).

    That's a good one.

Some clubs have large note books for the judges with notes on everything and how it is supposed to be. As you well know Ferrari only ever built two cars alike by accident. Judging that dogmatically is just wrong and totally against what is trying to be achieved yet many obviously still cling to thinking that is what is going on.

Valve stem caps is actually a joke for many. The correct black rubber cap? Come on, any judge or club getting that hung up needs to find a different hobby. These are cars after all, like your Dad shows us all. They're meant to be driven.

Ferraris are meant to be driven! One of my friends challenged to me to by a set of horsey valve stem caps, put them on the Mondial at a show, and see how long it would take for my dad to notice . . .
