i've seen that car a few times perusing autotrader...interior looks a bit rough...i'm not sure on the price...it seems there is a bottom to the prices on these cars, I never really see a 348 go under 30k...at the same time i've seen better/lower mileage examples than this go for just a couple grand more...we put some feelers out on our 90' tb that is mint, freshly serviced and only had 4900 original miles and we didn't get any offers above 35k, dealer prices are always going to be higher, but much better can be had in the ball park IMO

This car was sold on ebay for like $25k to them a year or two ago. Its been for sale for a year. Its probably not going to fetch 30... or it would have sold. They want to make a bundle on it.

I take it that the reason that it hasn't sold is it needs a belts and a major.. and the interior is probably in need of some work. When it was sold in New Hampshire the drivers seat level was broken and it had the rust in the sills.

Seems like it would be a nice car for the right price as a driver. I'll bet they're not budging on the price and when you factor the belts etc. you can get a car with half the miles for the price + major it needs.

I was talking to the dealer while selling my 348 last year. He was lowballing me on my car offering $18k on it. I compared my car to his - I had records, 20k fewer miles, lot of service history, red vs black color premium, etc. He then said that the $35k price (at the time) for his car was just an asking price and he is willing to accept $26k for it. He was quite arrogant to talk to. Glad I can repay the favor here. :)

They have been sitting on the car forever - I have seen it there for at least a year or two. I don't think he has the books, service records, etc. I would budget a full service and "while you are there" work as well. The miles are high on the car - a consideration when it comes time to sell.

I'm in the market for a 348 and there are many out there for under 30k. Obviously miles and service (or lack of) can be issues, but they are defintely out there

I would't touch a 348 that is listed at that price, unless money is no object

That f-chatters 348 challenge just sold for 30, I'm looking at a yellow ts in Chicago Tuesday for under 30, there's one in PA with high miles and 2 years since engine out one can get for well under 30, that red 94 spider currently on ebay has been "sold" twice for 28.5 and each time the buyer was a dead beat (but the dealer was willing to sell at that #), a rough white one on eBay just went 25, the tb in this thread sold a year ago for 24... The list goes on

A sub 30 348 isn't going to be perfect and will need some things but for an owner who can turn wrench or an owner who wants a car to freshen up, these can be good values

There are seven on EBAY at the moment, from the parts car in Utah to some nice cars in the low 40's or less.
Be very careful of the Utah car. There is a list of things to do, including a full belt service and a lot more. In addition, the car has had an unreported accident with bondo in the rear quarter, missing a number of underchassis panels and a list of needed repairs. No books, no tools, no records, mismatched tires and much more. This will very quickly be a 45,000 car and still have 44K or so on the odometer.
As the experienced guys have taught me on here, often the cheapest car to buy becomes the most expensive. Better to be patient and buy the right, well-maintained, well documented car. And remember, you will be selling it one day. Let the dealers buy the undocumented crap and try to pass it on with a big markup; no documentation, no records, no belt/tensioner et al services and they become multi-year owners, as is evidenced by the car in discussion here.
And do not give your labor away for free, if you have the expertise and tools to do the services required on these cars. The full service is a 6,000 to 7,500 dollar job, before all the while you are there additions. Discount a car appropriately if these services have not been done. And, if you can do the work, the credit is yours, not the sellers. They chose not to have the work done or do it themselves.
I might as well get myself in total deep dodo, while I am at it. I think the Haggerty market pricing is spot on. It prices neglected cars, drivers and first quality cars appropriately, as a generalization. Yes, every one of these is unique to its history and condition. I have looked very carefully for the past six months at every 348 car for sale in some ad offering, ran the carfax, ran the autocheck, googled the VIN, checked on here and watched how long the car was on the market. That 30K to 50K market range seems most reflective of most cars for sale. Some exceptions at the low end, ie the Utah car, and some at the high end with very low miles and great history and condition, that I think could be classified as a collector.
Last, but not least, as a rookie here, thank you to this website and its many fine contributors who have allowed or provided such valuable information that has taken much of the mystery out of owning the 348. I hopefully will join the owners ranks soon, and it could not have happened without all the contributions of information.
All my opinions of course. Yes I am a rookie here. By the way, I am halfway through reading the "Ferrari 348 Primer for New Owners". Another great source of info created by selfless 348 owners.

As some of you have already mentioned, this has been listed in the market for a long long time.

I also would like to see the listings of 348 under $30k, seems impossible, should have bought it back in 2008 during the economy down turn....

The buyer of the $55k collectable and the sub-$30k car are two different people. The sub-30k car is probably a guy like myself who wrenches on his car.. and enjoys it.

Search ebay motors for 348, then on the left click "completed listings", then filter down to cars and trucks

Cars.com has 3 348's all listed around or just above $30k each one can be bought for under 30

There are more, but I'm not going to spend the time cutting/pasting

Again sub 30$ cars are out there. Are they perfect, no. Are they for every buyer/owner, no. But for some they have potential and value

I bought a sub par 308 14 years ago, did most the stuff myself to get it back to very acceptable standard and enjoyed the process.

    Meister,

    Just for the clarification, you were the first who mentioned;
I clearly don't see that many 348 under $30k, not around $30k, but under $30 meaning less than $30k.

Anyways, it's well known fact, you get what you pay for, but the process of restoring is pleasant for some of us like you've mentioned above.
