I (Carobu did it for me) had to use a fender wheel lip roller (or whatever they are called) to compress the inner fender lip to keep the tires from rubbing. The previous owner said he never had a problem with that size rubbing. The wheels came with the tires as well by the way so I don't know why he didn't have problems and I did. I have seen a post or two from people with the same size rear and maybe even bigger in the front (245) state that they didn't have interference problems either. All I know is that I did. Go figure. One rim had a slight bend in the edge like it hit a pothole hard or something. It would periodically loose air overnight (once every few months or so). It got to the point where I carried around a cigarette lighter air compressor for emergencies. Eventually I paid a wheel shop a few bucks to straighten it out and haven't had any problems since. You would paint just the centers or the whole rim?
Just the centers, the web casting. The rims themselves are spun aluminum, and would buff to a huge gloss, with Mothers Billet polish. You have a PM, EMILIO!!
I think a lot of new tires have shoulder changes, and Goodyear has added a bead at the rim to help with "curbing'.....
I'm with you on this. Homage to the race cars of the era. I want to put an extra inch of lip on the outside of my rears. Fortunately with BBS this is pretty easy to do with out buying a whole new wheel. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Can you get these? I had checked a few years ago and couldn't get the 17's in a 12 in. width. I have a set of Compomotives that I love, but these are crazy cool.
my thoughts: Compomotives look the best. Stocks look good, but tire options are limited. I got some cheaper 17s to beat on, while my stockers stay in storage.
Found this pic on speedhunters of a car in japan. Oversized reproductions. They look like 17's. Image Unavailable, Please Login
First time you made this image is what made me call Lister in the first place. I just remembered it wasn't the 12 in width rears I couldn't get but the 17 in fronts. (they were 16's and would not clear my brakes)
I I recently put Gotti J55's on replacing my 18 inch 360 wheels. Car handles much better with less unsprung weight and Steering is much lighter and more responsive . 17 inch compomotives are on my wish list! Cheers
great wheels. I have those too. forged racing wheels!! they were dealer installed w/ p-7's and the original trx's were put on the shelf in plastic bags in as new take-off condition.
When I emailed with them they were very forthcoming and indicated a large variability in how they could/would work with me to be sure to get what I wanted which was 16" or 17" with widths that matched the 16" stock 308 optional wheels. Suggest you contact them directly. Very friendly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Received an email today from Lydia at LB, she reports: "...looking for a wheel supplier who would be able to make our wheels from the billet rather than them being cast and as such our current supply of wheels has been put on hold. If you would like to get in touch later this year we should be able to help then"
I looked into getting some 17”x 8-9” wide coffin spoke wheels cast a couple of years ago and it is not viable unless you have at least ten sets made (same face front/rear) or double this if you want the deeper face for the rears. Even with these numbers the cost is over $1000/set and I don’t think there are enough takers?
