So I really do love the 348, the way it is set up to give you total feed back with both hands on the wheel. I have an ex Challenge car converted to street/track use that I use for rally, etc. and love it. Loud, no air cond, track set up etc.

So it got me thinking, what would be the other 348s to own? Well, there is the 348 mule used for the Enzo engine test bed-two I think? For sure one of the Le Mans cars-were there... three? Then I think there were some IMSA cars and Japanese series race cars?

But what about the real world cars and one other, the Michelotto Competizione. I saw a Competizione go for 82K a while back at Amelia, then it sold again for about the same. Ed Wettack, who owned Ferrari of Atlanta, told me the Competizione was his favorite track car and he had lots to choose from. I was suprised but I supose I should not be as they are so rewarding to drive.

So I found this tonight after a search:

    My Ferrari 348 - Home

This guy must be Mr. 348! Looks to be a great source of information for anyone interested in the 348.

1-Two Enzo test mules- Ferrari Enzo Prototype-not really a 348 but then again...

    2-3 Le Mans 348s?

    3-11 Michelotto Cometizione GT

    4-22 348 Zagoto

    5-45 street 348 Challenge

6-56 348 GT Competizione or GTC? I have never seen this anywhere in the US-are any here? . 1994 Ferrari 348 GT Competizione | car review @ Top Speed Ferrari 348 GT Competizione for sale

    7-100 Serie Speciale

So what would it be? The 348 LM (I know where one is suppose to be-in FL), A street version of the 348 Challenge, a Serie Speciale, Michelotto Competizione, or one of the GTC cars? I think I would take one of each.

The GTC IMO. The street challenge cars are cool but had less done to them then the GTC. The GTC is the 348 I'd want.

How cool. The 355 never had evolution like that.

Yep, John O'Quinn had one (only a few Ferraris at all)...auctioned after his death.

    VERY low miles, basically unused.
No idea why that caught his eye...

went for high 70s, maybe 80K??

Funny, I'd never seen this site before, and when I clicked on the 348 Challenge page I found that one of the pictured cars was yours, another was one I formerly owned (Rosso Corsa #21), and the third was one I presently own (Grigio Met. #26).

Wow what a trip! Not sure I have ever seen that pic. Where did you get 26? Car looks great with the lights on, where was this taken? Where did 21 go?

That got me looking in my photo bin, yes, a clown for sure, but it's been fun. I had to kiss my car when I picked it up at FOWashington as they had it so long! Post some pics please if you have one of the cars mentioned in this thread.

You also have to add the unusual to the rarest of 348's Ask Bruce about the 358. Its a racing 348 with pedigree, a 355 subframe, 355 tail, and killer 348 engine on slicks and double adjustable shocks. Bruce post up the pics and the bio of 358.

And then the rarest of them all, the 348 Barchetta Competizione.

Let's not forget the Koenig F48 either.

Ok, I'll play along. My 348 Challenge (but without the roll cage or the OMP seats installed, which are still sitting in my garage).

Sold #21 to a collector who allegedly intends to put it (and a bunch of other Ferrari race cars) in a museum, if he ever builds it. Intended to buy a 355CH, but couldn't find one I liked, so bought another 348CH (#26), one I'd known for years. Got it a bit over 2 years ago from an acquaintance who'd owned it for a while, and also knew the 2 owners who preceded him.

That looks like an awesome track car...I do agree that the wing would look better lower, even as the standard 355 wing, but I assume it is more effective higher? It must have been exspensive to build, as I assume these required molds, and may be carbon, but could be some sort of glass. I think someone did this to an F40 as well.

Damn nice, saw a corsa/black a few weeks ago in Charlotte, NC, 18,000 miles. What number is your car? I noted on two sites a differnt number for challenge car production. Seems one source said 45, another site said mid 50s?

Love the tow hook up front lol. Was your car raced in the series? Miles? What other challenge parts do you have?

Car was never raced to the best of my knowledge. It never came with the Serie Challenge id plate, but then again many didn't. According to Sport Auto, it was #24, but I have no way to prove that unless I can get some sort of verification from FNA. Car has the 3 aluminum pedals, suede steering wheel, mounting points for roll cage and harnesses pre-welded in place. Also has panel in back of seats grommeted by the factory for harness eyebolts, Challenge light covers in the front bumper, and Challenge wheels. I have the full Challenge roll cage sitting in my attic and the OEM Challenge seats (the kevlar-carbon fiber ones) in my garage as they await me losing 20 lbs so that I can shoe horn my fat a** into them comfortably.

The front tow hook is actually for a 360 Challenge. A machinist buddy of mine made a new shaft out of chrome moly steel and rolled some M16 x 2 threads. I have a OEM tow hook for a 348 Challenge but it looks big and clunky by comparison and is bent slightly where someone had used it at one time.

You've probably seen the car before, though it looks a bit better now than it did then. I bought it from Sport Auto back in 2008 and used to take it to the Motori Italiani show in Charlotte before we moved.

I thought there were only 2 LM's  but I know there are only 50 road GTC's not 56 ;) and they were sold in Europe only, though I know of a Michelotto race GTC in the US....there maybe more?

BTW a road GTC just sold for 100,000 GBP in the UK

You just answered for me. I took a look in Bluemel's "The Original Ferrari V8". The SS was U.S. only; whereas the GTC was Europe only.

My personal favorite 348 is Mike's (AceMaster's) Serie Speciale. Plus, the owner is pretty amazing too.
