Man I would really hate to tell a person to blow $150 for one stud from ARP, as that is about what they cost for the first one. It is what it is. Pay to play right.

Guys, thank you SO much for your replies and input.I've been reading your threads for years.I really value your opinions,SMG,BigTex,Rifledriver,Ferraripilot,Steve King etc....you guys know your stuff and I have to admit seeing your clean, perfect rebuilt engine threads inspired me to do this.I've had my car for 7yrs,and it was time for a t-belt svc. When I started it,I found a few things the PO half assed,so decided to pull the motor(last Sunday) and start fresh. That way,I know what I have and no need to worry.Glad I did as everything needs to be gone over.I had cracked vacuum lines and the fuel lines are to the point they're just dangerous.Surprised the car ran so well in the condition it was in! Valves are relatively inexpensive,so I want to go that one extra step while I'm in there and change them.MIGHT do bottom end too,not sure yet....again "while I'm at it right?"lol
Thought it may have been standard procedure to change them, but found it odd the studs aren't discussed much.So per the replies,I'll see how they are when I pull the heads, which will be after Easter.
Thanks again for your help,I'm sure I'll have more questions.
    Carter

Move my name a LOT further down that list brother, although I do appreciate the sentiment!

Rifledriver has been on these cars for decades...SMG2 is a wizard...:D

I just watched, as my dear old friend tore them all down....
I just hit the gas, and then the brakes!!!!

My engine is encrusted, like an oyster reef in Galveston Bay.

I think that helps, to seal the carb plugs...
    :D :D :D

Any change to the limited options for new head studs? Needed to remove mine to clean up block face. All but two came out easy-peezy. The last two not so much. Cheers, John
