Right, but Kimi also set the record for the most consecutive finishes in the points.

China was a good example of typical Massa - once he dropped to the back after the disastrous pit stop, he gave up. He trundled along at the back, and finished ahead of one Caterham. The Williams was capable of passing a lot more cars, but Massa gave up.

Prove it lol! Did Claire Williams and Massa call you or just a pit lane reporter you are friends with. Kimi....ZERO improvement over Massa and now blames both the car and his driving style yet FA was on the podium. Should we call him Felipe Raikkonen LOL!

Bottas passed who? He started and finished seventh.

Kimi and Massa are a like for like swap. Both wrong for the team, both long in the tooth and both far too expensive for what they are. At least we can sleep soundly knowing that the Domenicali era is now over and we can look forward to a decent driver replacement for next season.

They might as well have taken Kamui for that seat than. Race by race, i'm seeing Alonso improving, albeit slowly. Kimi is just stuck there since the Aussie race.

Felipe last year after 4 races 30-pts
Kimi this year after 4 races 11-pts

Felipe has 1 more point than Kimi now.

We shall see how this develops. I wouldnt want to be Kimi this year at all. He has, from the looks of it, about zero chance of out performing FA.

Interesting comments. It was in 2013 he set the record for most consecutive points finishes in the history of F1 (even when Perez crashed into him in Monaco and he came down to about 14th with a handful laps to go he managed to get himself into the points. He even overtook 2 drivers on the last lap. In bloody monaco!). Nothing like consistency hey. A testing crash is completely irrelevant. Never mind that his consistency in 2003 almost got him a title. Only 1 win against Schumachers 6 and only 2 points difference at the end of the season. You don't do that if you bin your car at every corner, you make him sound like Maldonado.

Many F1 and ex F1 drivers have said that Kimi is probably the most aware driver in F1 currently with some of the best race craft. His moves in the last 2 years certainly proved that.

He's had a tough start this year with Magnussen crashing into him twice, his car being unreliable in either practice, quali or race. It all sounds like piss poor excuses now but it is how it is.

The same thing that Massa did since his accident.

I'm disappointed in Kimi but Massa wouldn't have been any better.

At least Kimi has a cool personality

make that 'no' personality. Kimi's 'care about nothing' persona, makes me not care one bit about him.

truth of the matter is what matters still is that kimi is still the scuderia's last world champion.. which i am afraid alonso will never be.. sorry.. no matter the heroics of alonso or what.. he can try as hard as he wants but will not be a ferrari world champion which every driver dreams of being?.. not as long as merc or red bull around.. which each team has taken 5 or more years to implement there overall tech structure and team.. red bull and now merc.. ferrari does not have that.. even with all the money at there disposal..

Funny that this thread even exists being that some people think it would be a great idea to replace Fred with a youngster and keep Kimi, lol. Laughable.

Kimi has been less than impressive so far this year. As far as his being the last WDC for Ferrari, that and two bucks will get him on the bus. 07 was a long time ago. If Fred never wins with Ferrari it will be Ferrari's fault, not his. They should have signed Hulk....

Not quite fair, the 2013 Ferrari was actually very quick at the start of last year and Felipe's Williams is a better car then this year's Ferrari.

That said, Kimi does need to step it up.

I'm one of the first people to bash Massa, but there is no doubt that he is an improvement at Williams over the fruitcake that was Maldonuto.

Kimi on the other hand has so far sadly disappointed. He needs to up his game now that the F1 circus is back in Europe. At best he's got another 3 races to get up to speed if he wants a second year with the team. That requires a fair degree of self-motivation and I'm not sure he can be bothered.

One thing is beyond doubt- neither of them are future WDC candidates. That's fine if driving for a midfield team like Williams, but it is absolutely unacceptable to waste a seat at Ferrari.

True but on this forum last year that didnt matter. Felipe was not getting the results that Fernando was. Was the same car. The mantra here.

Same for this year. Kimi so far is hardly an improvement.
2-3 more races and it will become true that in essence Kim was not the better choice if this holds up.
Then again who is the better choice against FA in a Ferrari. A tall mountain to climb for anyone.

And it was the same story with Massa the year before that, and the year before that, and the year before that............., in cars that were basically evolutions of the previous years cars.

During all that time he never improved!

As I've already posted, Kimi is struggling in a brand new, incredibly complex car with systems that work best with very specific driving (which his style doesn't necessarily suit at the moment).

It seems funny to Me that you are critical of those on here who criticize Massa's performances after years of failing to match Alonso, but seem to want Kimi to be given the same criticism after 4 races and in his 1st year with a far more complicated car than Massa had to deal with.

If you think we're harsh and unfair on Massa, aren't you being even harsher and more unfair on Kimi?

Does anyone really believe that Kimi doesn't have a lot more potential than Phil?

Phil proved to be a dead end at Ferrari. Kimi showed the ability to adapt to a less than optimal car at Lotus. I'm not saying that he'll eclipse Alonso but I expect that over the season he will improve.

Kimi got a win in his first race with the 2013 Lotus. How much time does he need to "adapt" to the Ferrari? He must better deliver soon, as he´s in a single year contract.

The good news is that he still has not Massa´s ugly tendency to crash.

    Thank goodness for small blessings.
    ;)

This year's cars require a lot more adjusting to.

I wonder if he or the team insisted on the short contract..

    DF1 apparently!

I suspect that Kimi is far more disappointed with how his 2014 season has gone so far than any of us on here and is tying everything he can to adapt to the car and get more out of it.

As I've said before though, perhaps the performances of Kimi and Massa have been the real performance of the cars and Alonso just has the ability to get something extra from them, beyond what they should have been capable of!

No doubt that the Williams flatters and the Ferrari libels.
