Sadly, the rivets look like they're holding a bridge together. The model of the P4 suffered from the same problem IMHO.
I picked up the berlinetta version yesterday. I think CMC has gone too far with all the details which has led to quality issues. I don't know if it has something to do with the type of car (sports racers) because the 330/412 GMPs are similar in quality issues. The older CMCs like the SWB don't seem to be affected and the 312 P can't hold a candle against the BBR 375 Plus or 512 BBLM. The first example of the berlinetta 312 that I was about to buy had to be returned because a piece of bodywork was loose (the small strip between the rear bonnet and the door). Something like that should have been noticed at the factory. Both my spider and berlinetta version have crooked rear suspension. Therefor the left rear wheel doesn't sit straight in the wheel well. It's not a problem of a loose wheel, but the whole suspension geometry is crooked. Something that can't be fixed easily. The rear body latches are a nice feature, but on one side it doesn't work. De right door doesn't shut very well. It seems to me that all these working hinges etc only complicate things and the result is poor quality. I prefer models with opening parts and so on against the sealed resin ones, especially when prices are comparable, but not at the cost of quality. /rant off Best, Peter
Have to agree re the quality on some of these models Peter, the GMP P4 is fairly poor in terms of the way the front and rear attaches. Quite disappointed with it. My CMC 300 SLR and Testa Rossa are on another level to be honest. Still keen to see an Exoto Alfa 159 in the flesh before diving in.
and I always wondered, why there are so many ebay auctions which show the car with open doors and detached front hood Best Regards Martin
Yap, hve seen some pictures with huge panel gaps...desastrous for such an expensive end beautifull model
Helo from Germany, I got mine today and it's great. Prior to my purchase I contacted six sellers and asked whether they are willing to check my model prior to shipping. If hood is fitting or if there are other problems. I thought for that money I could ask for this service. Four of them didn't reply at all. One replied, that he didn't have one single model yet without problems and one replied, that he would be happy to sell me one and will of course check the car prior to shipping. Now I have a perfect model without any flaws. With a perfectly fitting front hood and so on. Therefore; if you find a seller, who does NOT give a sh&/t on his customers, chances are good to get a great and perfect model. But obviously this model HAS problems and a 'blind' purchase ( what's the correct english term ? ) is risky. Best Regards Martin
