Good morning and happy Easter/Passover! I recently picked up my tickets to for F1 this year in Austin (10/31-11/2). I thought it might be fun to get a group of people together for a nice formal dinner on 10/31. Figure with a group of 20-30 somewhere in the $40-$60/head range.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks
    Rick

Look out for Rob to announce an event similar to last year. Of course that's not definitive.

I've decided not to do an Austin FChat party this year. Can't top last year David Hobbs and all showing up. :D if anyone organizes something I might tag along though. :)

Rob, I'd be happy to organize. Let's talk via PM. Might it be possible to create a top level forum F1 Austin Attendees ?
    Thanks
    Rick

I don't want to be involved at all, that's point of not doing it this year! you don't want me asking questions or getting involved anyway. :D do what you want, if it looks good Jennie and I will come. if we do decide to come I can certainly see what I can do kicking in swag or sponsorship. a thread in F1 section would work best, no forum needed, just a master thread. thanks.

If you want a local contact to help organize, hit me up. I live only a few miles away from last years gathering place and can help with logistics where needed.

For whatever it's worth, I'd vote Siena all the way. Much easier to access than Vespaio and great roads all around you for some spirited driving.

I understand Rob. It can be a frustrating and time consuming effort. I posted this thread on F1 -- many views, no replys. Odd, huh? Would you consider making it a sticky on F1 until after the event? If so, I'll start directing the conversation to that thread.

    Thanks!

Ok, so here's the scoop, so far. I spoke with the banquet mgr at Sienna. $1500 guarantee.. so.. looks like $50-$60/person, plus tip/tax. I'm good with that. They suggest a prix fixe menu, which makes sense to me as well. They can provide a couple of options for the courses. I think it'd be a LOT of fun! Meeting FChatters in person from all over the U.S.

I really don't like sticky threads it, often kills them people look right over. Better to top it every few weeks.

As things come together, hit me up, I am sure I can help put some " support " together for the event again this year!

And maybe actually be able to attend too.

Wasn't referring to the FCA party but the Fchat party. I have been on here a while and finally had a great opportunity to meet up with people I've been chatting with for years.

Willing to help out, organize as needed.

Iron Cactus North did a great job for us last year. Had the whole bar and an outdoor area had we needed it. Food and drink was reasonable.

I would recommend talking to them. They contacted Rob and I about doing it again this year.

You will lose 10-20 people that sign up and uncarefully go to the Downtown one instead of the North one. :D

Agreed. If we did a formal sit down, with a $1500 commit, I would probably want to run it like FCA did. Buy tickets to the dinner in advance. Nothing says commitment like $s. lol

we did that too, but I gave tickets to subscribers and others only had to pay about 30% of the cost. Make them pay 100% of the cost and you will get higher turnout. it worked though, because I expected the no show wankers, so we overbooked and final count came out about right. besides the no shows you will also get some crashers, have fun with it! ;)
