Did a quick check and I must not have the right keywords. How do you remove the hood air vent? Looks like it's impossible to get the bolts from the riveted panel underneath. Image Unavailable, Please Login Anyone painted it with success? Mobilized reply by Dahveedem
You must drill off the rivet heads securing the cover underneath to access the 5 nuts, 3 nylon and 2 locking, that secure the grate onto the hood. One of those deals where you ask yourself "Do I really want it done that bad?" A holesaw to access the nuts might work, but then there are other issues.
I've looked at this issue a few times and it appears the rivets must be removed to gain access. Some one else please share if you have found another way. Additionally, I feel painting would look nice if it will hold. Will it hold????
Plugzit, that was fast! I guess that cover is a drip plate to catch water/rain to drain out. Drilling might not be the best idea.
Yes, just happened to be disassembling that part for the trip to the body shop to repair damage from the evil eucalyptus tree and a full repaint.
Wow that was quick. Thoughts about painting it? How will you reattach the riveted cover once removed? Mobilized reply by Dahveedem
