With this, not only do you not need sparkplug leads, you don't need hoses attached to anything either. ;)

The Stratos road cars have a water jacket in the intake manifold. Not sure what the reason is unless it prevents icing.

To make sure the intake air is heated to ~90°C hence being thinner and reducing power output?
Ok I'll stop making cheap jokes, this is only present in the Stradale cars and most cars I have seen have it disconnected.
Race cars with cross intake manifolds and 24V have no provision for this all others have it disconnected also.

Here is one rational from the internet for heating the intake manifold:

"Hot coolant from the cooling system flows through the waterjacket and heats the manifold. Heating is required in a carbureted engine to provide better vaporization of the air-fuel mixture".

Lancia must have done this for a reason. Certainly easier to cast a manifold without the water jacket. Maybe on a road car with more normal (non-racing) throttling it had some advantages.

I would guess it's hot enough being in contact with the engine block and heads.
The carbs depression reduces outside temperature by at least 20°C then the air gets in touch with the manifold and head but not long enough to get much heat out of them.

    Peter,

Does this one also fit under an unmodified decklid? How much clearance is left?

Did not answer the question: How much clearance is there between the horns and lid once the latter is closed?

A stock looking system with stock air cleaner please! I wonder if there would be a gain in horsepower and torque or just better driveability cold or hot in all elevations and hard cornering?

I have the Jenvey throttle bodies fitted to my Dino complete with coil on plug ignition and a ROTREX SUPERCHARGE various intercoolers and a Motec 800 control. 10psi boost makes 110 extra hp with standard internals, More than gives the local Testarossa's a run for their money.
