I'm not sure any theme could express the epic nature of this event. Food, fellowship, fixin', and certainly some of the biggest lies of the season. Maybe Craig will have a report on the Monaco vintages and Mille Miglia, which apparently they've decided once again to proceed without us. Maybe Mel will bring some pistachio pies. Maybe Gayle will be making cookies days in advance! Chickens everywhere will be wingless. 355s will be repaired. Barbara will be dangerous with the pressure washer. Be afraid. Be very afraid. But be there nevertheless.
OK my fellow Stooges, we will fix the date as Saturday May 31st. Same rules as usual. Bring your own fluids and storage containers for used stuff. Beverages are a good idea. Food, if you feel it necessary. Last year with all the left overs I didn't cook for a week. I think we tend to either over-estimate or under-eat. Nah, couldn't be the latter... Also it would be nice if you bring something for the driveway to catch fluids - a nice piece of oil absorbant material should do. The wife is getting snarky about the spots. Like this stuff: Oil Only Pads, Oil Only Absorbents in Stock - ULINE The preliminary menu will start with wings of course. Otherwise FBB won't eat. Thinking of a theme for this event so I will let you know. I was going to deep fat fry a turkey or two with several pounds of sliced potatoes. Oh yes, it will be turkey and not some other fowl from the hood, if you catch my drift. Anyone know a good recipe for pea..., er pheasant? Peanut oil will be used so please let me know if anyone has food allergies. For the boring and slobbish, I can do some burgers. Just a working plan right now though.
Sounds great Vince. Should I plan on bringing a specific item for consumption, or would a monetary contribution be more suitable? Either way I'm in, so please let me (us) know what we can contribute to make this an epic day. REALLY looking forward to it. Henry
No money. Please. Beer is nice. Whatever you drink is fine with us. We always need ice, but bringing it from Hemet is probably not a good idea, eh?
if you shoot one with one of your 'practice' rifles ....... the only thing left of that bird, would be a beak and some toe nails .....
Rule 1 of lying amongst friends.....all lies are true stories. Rule 2.....your friends must "back you up"! Rule 3....backing up a friend's lie allows you to tell a bigger one!
I saw that race on the satellite feed, I said NO that guy looks just like Craig from down the street. WOW it was you
Guys I'm out of town attending family business in IN. Mother in law passed. I think our dates are fine but I will let you know after we get back on the 10th.
Condolences. I'd like to come meet y'all and drink a beer or 6. Can't do the first o June, but if it gets rescheduled?... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hello fellow Stooges! We are back and getting into the normal mode of things. So it looks as though we are okay for the BBQ on the 31st. I had the gas BBQ break so I need to get it fixed pronto. On the other hand if I'm frying turkeys, I got it covered with my charcoal back-up grill. We did have some unpleasantness in the family with 2 simultaneous deaths that came on the heels of 4 others in the past 60 days. Let it be known that 2014 has not been kind to my wife's family. It's amazing how these things can happen. 3 uncles, mother, brother-in-law and a cousin. Now, I only mention this not to draw sympathy. I know my fellow Stooges have my back on that. Only that this is now time for moving on and celebrating life and friends. What better way that to throw a Ferrari themed BBQ? As a result, May 31st is on. I do have to return to the land of Hoosier in June, so no postponement of the BBQ is likely. Today I am taking my car for a drive to see if there is anything I'd like to do to it in a couple of weeks. It would be a good idea for those who are coming to announce what they would like to do and get their materials or ask for direction here. I will be trying out some detail stuff. FBB will no doubt be trying to get us to clean his car for a concours he has delusions of winning. You never know what Bruce has planned. Heck we could be swapping out a gas tank or something. If you bring wiring issues over to be resolved be warned that those tiny connectors, old eyes and beer do not make a good combination. I will be making some calls to the locals to remind them to show up so I don't have 3 weeks of food left over. I'm doing 2 Cajun brined fried turkeys. Anyone wants to take a fried turkey home, just bring an uncooked one over. No more than 15 lbs and it's only 45 minutes in the fryer. Believe me this is the time you want to do this since I'm the one left with the mess. Start saving milk jugs please.
Vince; My sympathies to you and your wife. I lost my mother a few months ago so I can really understand. As for the party, I'm there. I'd like to adjust my hand break, see if anything can be done with the rattling bypass, maybe bleed the brakes, never did do the HID headlight install, I still have the fuel filter that I picked up from Bruce last year and an oil change is always in order. Bruce, do you have any more oil filters for a 355? Peter
For 355s I have, can bring and install: Oil filters (a few) Fuel filters Air filters Brakes Rebuilt clutch For 348s I have: Beer Lies War stories
I'll be in the middle of my engine out so anything anyone needs my hands will be dirty already. Also any special needed I have pretty mush 3-4 of everything including real tweaky diagnostic stuff. Only thing I don't have is a smoke machine.
Vince, I will take you up on a turkey. I will bring a 15 pounder. I loved deep fried turkey almost as much as chicken wings!
I'm planning to pick your brains about getting rid of the swirl/scratch marks on my car. Will bring my FLEX polisher and some various potions to try. Vas has given me some ideas of what to buy, but if anyone has any input, I'd be most appreciative. Henry
I hope things are getting better vince ........ if things go well on my end, I will be showing up ...
Bruce: Set aside an oil filter for me please. Thanks. Vince: May bring a turkey as well. I think I have 2 left in the freezer from Thanksgiving. Bringing beer as well. Vince, do you have a preference?
